It's been in development for 5 years, not a decade.
Kinda expected we'd have the choice for DLC or a Final Mix version this time around. Atleast I won't have to dish out $60 again.
The real question when it comes to the issue of buying again is if we'll be able to transfer these games to PS5 though... Not just Backwards Compatibility with the original disc, but if we can transfer the digital version as well. Really hoping for this because I buy digitally.

Oh come on. Both Smash and Gears 5 have major upgrades.
Smash is one of the titles you should expect to look nex-gen out of Switch because of it's 2.5D nature. It's LoD and lighting is on par with other Nex-gen titles. Maybe a bit of aliasing because of no 4K but it definitely looks nex-gen.(if I buy a Switch I'll get an M-Cable with it to take care of aliasing)

Anyway I think it would be nice if they added 4 GB of DDR3 for system functions so it costs less than GDDR6 and doesn't dip into gaming RAM.
LMAO 2x the performance IS THE JUMP for 2019-2021 genius. We're not getting a 4x jump. That's the point of the comment ABizzel, 16 TF for $399 is a 2023-2025 thing.
If you really think we're getting 16 TF you're deluded. The 7nm jump is only doubling power for the same price. Even if they increase the price to $499 we'll be looking at 12 TF AT A LOSS like the X is now. And that's before: RAM increase(GDDR6 is 20% more, plus atleast double the RAM), and HDD increase and 4KHDR Blu-ray, so even more of a loss.
Sony's already reporting of losses in 2020 but if you think we're getting 16 TF at $399 then lmao.
We're reaching diminishing returns in so many ways right now. If MS really wants a good game they need to invest in their studios so they can make them. Games like The Last of Us II aren't going exist without a team willing to make it! Having 33% more power will be negligible just as it is right now. Despite being the weaker console Sony's games look far better.
MS knows this and likely won't let Sony get the upper hand by releasing a year early.
Nomura has said the game is on track, the only reason it was delayed was so it didn't compete with Fall/Christmas titles.

Smash has me wondering if I want a Switch. The graphics look nex-gen enough... A bit of aliasing but I can buy an M-Cable to resolve some of that.

This was by far the most beautiful conference when it comes to graphics. These games are something else, and will definitely carry me to PS5.

FFXV was their only mistake though, simply because they couldn't get it running on PS3. Once it was moved to PS4 it came out in 3 years using pretty much nothing from the original code.
Their other games have been coming out in a timely fashion. Since FFvXIII was announced Nomura has over 40 titles with some credit towards him so it's not like they weren't working on anything else during that time... more than likely it was decided it would either be cancelle...
