Actually MS Surface has been very well received by the press. It just isn't a tablet, it is more like a tablet-laptop hybrid that could replaces your desktop and tablet together, something iPad is incapable of doing. In fact, it can also run your current Windows application!
In comparison, battery life on iPad is max 10-hours and Kindle Fire is 8-hours so Surface getting 8-hours is in-line with a bigger screen.
The model competing with iPad should be pric...
I imagine MS could even make a gaming specific portable controller that snaps in, in place of the current magnetic keyboard. Heck, just make the Xbox 360 controller work with MS Surface!
That is actually incorrect!
In some circumstances, a company going bust means another one more efficient will take over the market. A profitable and viable business is far better than a losing one. Assuming it doesn't leave a monopoly or nobody to take over.
The problem with this logic that a company in dire situation is desperate to give consumers what they want is actually far from the truth.
Most companies on the verge of collapse do so because of:
a) bad management
b) unmotivated or untalented employees
c) lack of resources
It's a self feeding cycle, if you got bad management, you tend to retain unmotivated or untalented employees, which causes lack of resources. This then...
You mean how there is no 3D announcements at E3 and Sony essentially pulled support. I'm sorry, but 3D fad is over and it's essentially dead.
Also, Xbox 360 can do full stereoscopic 3D, but nobody cares. It's costly, uncomfortable to wear 3D glass, and 3D effects are also uncomfortable!
I *barely* ever use the 3D feature of my TV and even my die hard Sony fanboy family members that pushed me to get a 3D TV don't even use it.
@mcnablejr:
I agree. That is one of my major sticking points with PSN and PS3. I don't use it that often, but every time I do, there are staggered updates and sometimes takes a long time.
On Xbox 360, when there is an update, I don't even have to exit the game.
While the game is running, I say yes to the update prompt and it downloads in the background and I can immediately play. No reboot of the game necessary. The updates are small ...
"I remember when FW used to be exciting."
Maybe you where on the Xbox 360? For the past number of years, there has been a major update every year with significant features and improvements.
PS3 firmware has consistently been consistently lacking. Mostly bug fixes labeled as stability improvement.
There is always a risk that you brick your console during updates and there is no warranty replacement if it happens so I prefer one large...
Yes and that is a choice. Making online passes essentially an industry standard, deceiving your customers and having very anti-consumer terms is not a choice!
I have no problem with people buying or making games I don't like. I have a problem with being forced due to one company.
@inveni0:
"The biggest enemy of 3DTV is the now inexpensive LCD and Plasma TV"
So you are saying people aren't willing to pay extra for 3D TV?
That was known from the very beginning. By the time the technology gets cheap enough, despite the fact that I got 3D feature for only a $100 more on my cheap ass $600 TV, the content providers are scaling back support.

3D on Nintendo 3DS made the most sense due to pricing, and the support Nintendo is giving it. I think it is a gimmick that appeals to the younger crowd.
3D on consoles on the other hand required substantial investment, and the experience was hardly worth it. The biggest pusher of 3D was Sony and they essentially stopped support for it. It was a costly gimmick for many, lucky for me I spent $600 on my 51" Samsung Plasma. I paid $100 extra for 3D with the glasses so not a ...
I gotta laugh every time somebody posts Last Guardian or Agent. Those games have been on the "exclusive list war" for years running.
That is how Sony gets the "supposed" win every year, putting unreleased games on it repeatedly!
This year's lineup for PS3 is the weakest in a long time as there is no blockbuster exclusive.
It looks like to me that next year is gonna be an awesome year though if Last of Us, Beyond, Gea...
They all contribute in their own way. MS is supporting Xbox 360 with Kinect then SmartGlass and a host of entertainment options.
Sony is supporting theirs with new IPs.
Nintendo is pushing out a new console with a hopefully innovative controller.
Isn't it great that you have an option? I would hate to see all three focus on the same thing!
I think the most important thing that wasn't mentioned at all, is actually SmartGlass. Seemingly simple idea, yet broad changing just like Achievements.
I couldn't even find where to change my password on origin's website. I had to fire up the client, and buried within it was the option. Only problem? The damn thing didn't work!!!
Seriously! How is EA going to compete with Steam if they can't get something that basic right?
I hope for all of us that Origin never becomes the dominant player.
My experience has been excellent as well with MS customer service. The customer service representative didn't have a non-US accent to boot. Is the call center in the US now?
Did you try the latest update?
Also, I understand your issue, but MS technically isn't responsible for 3rd party accessories, even if it is licensed. You should be complaining to Fanatec, the manufacturer of your wheel, and they will resolve it with MS if necessary.
Also, it sounds like MS fixed with a June 20th update, before the media even got notified of the issue.
Why is the size an issue in the first place? From what I remember, XBL gives you 2GB. That's a lot!
Also, it doesn't seem like the public cares about this game. If they did, they would have forced MS hand by lots of negative publicity.
@ShinMaster:
The fact that you compare PSN number of accounts to XBL tells me you are misled. It's not the number of dormant accounts that matters, it is the number of active people that play what you want to play.
The friends I add on Xbox Live frequently play more, have mics and tend to play online games. If you have to pay to play, you damn well use it. Having a microphone as standard and making it easy to use it with cross game chat and party chat def...
@darkride66:
I don't know much about the intricate details of ITC, but it was under my impression that ITC doesn't decide on what is fair, only if it violates said patents and is grounds for banning. There is no question at this point that MS violates some of those patents especially considering they used to license it.
If you have a source for your claims, I would love to see it.
Still it doesn't change the fact that the entire i...
Kinect Sports is arguably one of the best Kinect games. The first Kinect Sports sold over 3 million copies. Amazingly that is more than many new core IPs that are considered succesful.
The amount of technology going into making Kinect do what it does is incredibly amazing. Very complex stuff.
