The obvious difference is Playstation Suite is an app that only work on devices that Sony says can and only sells games, while Windows 8 is a freaken entire OS built for different device segments that includes user migration to the cloud, directx support, and a host of other APIs.
It's hardly the same thing, unless you don't know the difference. All programs aren't the same just because they all are called programs. By your *implied* and loose definition, Java its...
Far from it, because Playstation Suite is for Androids and is practically only supported by HTC when the devices arrive outside of Sony. The thing is practically dead on arrival.
This is a unification of Windows 8 onto every device, from desktop PC, tablets and to smart phones. Since it's Windows, every major brand will have a product for it. The opportunity is far bigger than PS Suite, and is far more flexible, because it isn't just for gaming. Developers can now tar...
@amsterdam:
1) On a local network, roundtrip for a network packet is around 1ms and in worse case scenario 5ms. That is hardly any lag. A 30fps game has 133ms window. Your TV likely adds more lag than the network packet!
2) Just support the ones you care about, like iOS and Windows Phone. Android is a pain due to fragmentation.
3) How about a third party accessory that slaps your phone on to the controller if it is such a big deal. In many s...

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that to start a game, then resume elsewhere the data is all in the save game. All you have to do is transfer it over seamlessly.
If you code the game on tablets, which it likely will be now considering everything from tablet, to desktop to even smart phones are all based on Windows 8 kernel with Direct X support, this isn't far fetched.
It's not rocket science or magic software.
Yup! I love Linux and use it extensively by choice for my webservers that I maintain (CentOS). It's fantastic, extremely stable, but the learning curve is steep. Messing around with fragmentation issues such as some apps don't work on on distribution, compiling your own software after editing fixes and dealing with command line isn't something the general public cares about.
If you think Metro is bad, you haven't tried Linux GUI!
You mean how Linus Torvalds (the creator of Linux kernel and current maintainer) just gave the middle finger to nvidia!
Linus Torvalds says "f--k you" to NVIDIA

Even if Steam or whatever other digital store comes to Linux, it's still a fragmented and non-viable OS for gaming.

I could care less about CoD, but you said:
"I could be wrong, but I just do not see the convenience."
Also:
"Also please show me where MS said that you would be able to play your games using smart glass, I must have missed that."
MS showed this at E3 with NFL. It wouldn't be hard to integrate a game into the whole thing especially if technology is built to share data between Xbox 360, tablets, smart ph...
Problem is that far more people likely have a smart phone or tablet (or both) and an Xbox 360 than Wii U for a long time.
SmartGlass is more than that, it is actually a set of technologies (read API) that makes it easy for developers to integrate this.
I pause in Mass Effect quite a bit to look at the map and where I'm supposed to go. I also very often look around while paused to see where my team mate is.
Equipping weapons generally meant using a d-pad or it being simplified to only allow carrying of two weapons mapped to a button.
There are a lot of scenarios of the usefulness of SmartGlass. It can function as a very flexible input mechanism ala keyboard, or informational.
The ability...
I'm pretty sure that usually applies to pirates, but then they didn't care about computer security in the first place.
My personal experience has been that Vista is far more stable than XP albeit slower. It also has far more security features built into a modern OS.
You know, I can respect them for taking a $100/hour job unless it is questionable. This is so far from questionable, and beats the alternative, flipping burger or receiving welfare!
Your pick!
Also, they are likely to get paid closer to $20-30/hour. I think I read that somewhere. Also, also, also, their career is likely short. You don't stay pretty forever as gravity, and age does it's thing.
I don't know, pretty look girls has always gotten me more interested, hrmmm.
I don't recall ever thinking that damn nice piece of **s is ruining my gaming or experience.
If anything is ruining gaming, it is the publishers insistence on restricting your ability to play your legally purchased games and killing the used game market.
Pretty women is the least of our problems. Heck, pretty women is NOT even a problem!!! XD
SmartGlass used with an Xbox 360 to play games will be on your local network. You know what the ping time is on your local network is?
It's 1ms and occasionally 5ms. You know what the time frame for a 30 frame per second game is? 133ms!
If you run the game code on the tablet itself and feed it status updates, the experience will be real time. Online multiplayer games use a similar strategy, but they typically has 25-50ms delay and that is considered smoot...
It's usually how Sony works. All about the hype train.
Distract fans with Agent (since 2007), Last Guardian (since 2008) and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Gets fanboy's to put it on their list of exclusive every year since, and then introduce a new IP and keep silent on the other supposed games!
That is how they beat the Dreamcast with the PS2. Dreamcast was practically dead before PS2's release due to the hype Sony generated.
That s...
I wish they linked to this video:
"Forever. I recently saw a video on Kotaku showing a player dying at the end of Act II in Inferno while playing a Hardcore character. His reaction was not only priceless but horrific. I can’t imagine losing something I put so much work and hours into without even an ounce of a chance to get it back."

Actually, I own a 3D TV and it is a fad at this point. Fortunately for me, I paid $100 extra for the 3D feature. So not too much wasted.
It hasn't gone mainstream in TVs sold, it doesn't look like it will and companies are paring back support in gaming where that was supposed to be the huge push.
The kicker is of course that internet streaming doesn't support 3D, so you are stuck with either a small selection of games or blu-ray.

@darthv72:
ah, I get it now since I put NYC_Gamer comment with yours.
It wouldn't make sense to license hardware away, because the production cost likely wouldn't go down especially when it is divided over multiple manufacturers. Wholesale works better with one vendor with a huge order.
Third party manufacturers likely would want to separate their product and uniqify it. This will just up their game and potentially make a few upset in...
LOL!
CoD takes up three spots on the top 7 games rented. The platforms in descending order, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. That's right Wii!!! WII!!!
Yep, it sits right behind the PS3 version. Amazing! XD
