the technical reason why Titanfalls wasn't and isn't is because MS came back to Respawns request for a need for massive cloud servers. Something Sony couldn't and didn't respond too.
Take it this way, even Killzone Shadowfall, PS4 flagship launch game and IP doesn't have real dedicated servers. It only has P2P with proxy servers.

I enjoyed Gears 3 (played it the most next to Mass Effect series) and still playing Overrun on Gears of War Judgment.

I think the weakness is the cost of the controller, at the expense of more graphical demanding games and recognition. This is only an issue if Nintendo is unable to demonstrate the usefulness of second screen experience and market those features.
Nintendo is not falling behind because of hardware, but a price, content and software technology.

Here is the thing, if you can't compete with competition, then you need to make yourself unique.
Nintendo knew they couldn't compete on horsepower, and frankly almost all of Nintendo's games has never gone for "realistic" graphics.
Thus Nintendo competed where they are best, at unique game hardware (see original game boy with portability, dual screen with touch, Wii with motion control) and quirky fun games.

1080p native wit 60fps proven on Xbox One with Forza 5. Keep in mind DriveClub for PS4 when announced ran at 30fps and aimuing for 60fps.

Many of us look at it more like an "entertainment device". I probably watch Netflix and TV as much as I play games. Heck maybe even more.
Like the developer, the fact that you can talk to your console and have it recognize you and your movements is fantastic. I hope those things get incorporated more into games which it undoubtedly will be as Kinect One...

Although I love free things and loved the fact that MS gave away Gears of War (and want the sequels and prequels for free too), I would say the same if MS did it or anyone else.
As it is, smart phones and tablets has already devalued games. We don't need more devaluing of games!
