There's plenty of games that look almost just as good. SH2 remake, the Bodycam games, the liminal games, Hellblade 2, all in UE5. I know some of those are walking sims or not as large scale as Halo is with dozens of enemies at once, but it's plausible to achieve this result. And by the time this comes out it'll be using the most up to date version, maybe even on the next gen Xbox, so it'll max it out like how Rocksteady maxed out UE3 with Arkham Knight.
Eon, like I said in another comment, Halo, Gears, Tomb raider, Uncharted and many other great games had diverse cast that wasn't just white men and most people had no issues with it. What we don't want is to be preached to, I loved the new Wolfenstein games but even that had moments that were almost too preachy. And it's not like it's just a White people thing, many cultures just prefer having their own.
I love Halo, Gears of war, Tomb Raider, Uncharted and many more. Those games have plenty of diversity, I can't think of one time when it was part of the selling point or having a character be all like "defeat the patriarchy" or "straight white male is bad" or "he doesn't understand us because he's not one of us".
So far it looks like it'll have a campaign unless it gets scrapped at the last second for some reason.
20 years ago, Bungie used to have the motto "making games we want to play", if the devs are having fun it's a good sign it's going to be an enjoyable experience. If the devs are worried about shareholders, quotas, fitting in with current trends and trying to make a small percentage of the population happy, it's not an encouraging sign.
And..... it's made by Gameloft, maybe this could be the game that turns them around, wouldn't be the first time a studio known for bad games made good games later.
But everyone says that working from home is just as productive and don't need to be with a team. Idk, I'm not an office worker, so I have no clue.
This is what I hate about this generation. Sometimes things are just supposed to be dumb fun. They want everything to be a masterpiece. There are people watching Sports and be like He's only got one Championship win, he's barely considered good, all his stats are padded. That's what happens when we allow certain teams to win championships almost every year, it just cheapens the effort. Am I going to not like a sports team because they couldnt win the biggest game? Am I going to ha...
Part of the problem is that last gen 4k was still new so people didn't have that kind of standard yet, so devs just maximized what was left of the 1080p and 30fps gen and made games look as good as possible, that's why BF3, Killzone, Infamous, UC4, MGS5 and many others from 5-10 years ago still mostly hold up even to this day.
It doesn't have to be some epic open world RPG with 300 hrs of content on a map the size of Texas. Just a simple classic 10 hr linear campaign like they used to make. Give us that "30 seconds of fun" like you used to brag about.
This is what they mean by "the love of money being evil". You don't even have to be religious to see the effects of doing things just because it gives you an extra penny. I would like to see gaming go back to the days when the devs were passionate and weren't worried about chasing quotas or pleasing shareholders or pleasing politicians and whatever business jargon there is.
When they revealed it, I got excited thinking they would do a Doom style reboot, and then got confused why people got angry it had a live service me and then saw that's all they are making, ditching the SP that the IP is known for. Expand the levels and lore with modern graphics and add a simple arena shooter, that's all they had to do.
I would like them to do a Halo ODST style, with the open hub area containing extra tombs and Easter eggs and collectibles and finding certain items will bring you to the linear mission.
I hate how shareholders or whatever make the decisions more than the developers. They should go back to the time when developers made the game they wanted to make, when it wasn't just based on quotas and all that other business jargon.
@senorfartcushion, just like with many other franchises, there's too many erm acshullys. From an official lore perspective I get it, since he needs to take out everything that makes him a spartan to truly have those feelings as, but that's very nitpicky.Even tho I think the show left off at a good spot because I think it was just supposed to be a prequel origin story and its pretty much caught us up to the first game, I wouldn't mind watching three more seasons of it. It might not...
Sometimes all I want is just a simple sci fi show with good special effects. I'm not expecting a 1:1 of the source material as so many great games and movies weren't carbon copies of the source material. I don't want to watch a show where if your mind wanders for 5 seconds you just wasted an opportunity to understand the show. I don't want a "this blonde girl that you thought was the true dungeon queen wasn't the dungeon queen because another blonde girl that looks ex...
It seems like Nintendo is the kid of divorced parents and both parents are trying to convince them to say which is the better parent. This is a good example of a Sony property being on Nintendo, but Microsoft has some deals also like bringing Ori to Nintendo.
Final fantasy, that does sound very contradictive of what a lot of CEOs tell us. I've seen plenty of articles about how expensive it is to train new employees, but they might be lying just to motivate employees to stay at a job a little longer than they want even if it doesn't have good working conditions. But I seriously doubt it costs 10 grand to train the average employee. They just want us to feel guilty if we don't want to stay at a bad job until we retire.
Lex, look at a photo of the 90s devs, just a bunch of bros that actually look like they are having fun, guys like Cliffy were in charge. Look at the devs now, they look like they are just there for the checks and preach a message, it feels much more corporate. Gamers don't want to be preached to. I'm not against diversity, some of my favorite games are filled with people that arent just white men, games like Halo, Gears, Tomb Raider, Uncharted and many more.
