Will there be games coming out? Yes, but when people say "no games", they meant a constant stream of decent games, not one gem every 4 years.
Buying Bethesda and Acitivition have not changed anything for Xbox, for example, Starfield, was a game that will release on XBox before the deal, the only thing that has changed is now PS fans cannot play it.
They have to think about how to increase the output of GOOD games, imagine the 70 billions they sp...

It doesn't work that way, I downloaded it, but never had time to play it, and probably wouldn't have paid for it if not for PS Plus, because that type of games are not my cup of tea.

Had way more fun with my Wii U than Switch.
To me, put of the 3 Tomb Raiders that they did, 1 > 2 > 3... I played the first one twice, second one once, and get bored so soon on the third.
The stiff animation, plastic like skins are make it less immersive than I would like. Hopefully they do some big changes this round.

You would only devalue your products into shit if you have no confident that they would sell and make you more money on its own.
For example when Starfield comes out, people can subscribe for $1 trial (or whatever the regular 1 month price is) then play and finish one of their most anticipated game, compare to a full price of $60.
Money that the developer doesn't earn can't goes into their fund for the next project, simple as that.

Custom engine is more "interesting" but doesn't always means it is better, I would rather they spend more time on polish the games itself, they need a decent launch to repair their reputation, I am sure all gamers will be extra critical on their next launch.
