What does a UHD Bluray player have to do with games? All games media for the PS4 and XB1 come on HD Bluray not 4K Bluray.

You would rarely find a gaming PC with a UHD Bluray player much less an HD Bluray player, yet providing they have the graphical hardware they can play 4K games. The PS4pro can play some 4K games natively and those it can't it can upscale or render or let the 4K display do it. How is this any different to a gaming PC?

So if you say...

While I do agree with most of what you said and I was expecting the PS4pro to have a 4K Bluray player although you really do have to ask the question what does a 4K Bluray player have to do with games and the answer "It doesn't".

First and foremost the players on all Playstations have always been used for games as their primary purpose. It just so happens that the players could also be used for other purposes such as playing CD's (PS1, PS2 and PS3), playin...

Fantastic Forza (Racing), Gears (Third person shooter), DeadRising (Survival Horror - sort off ), Halo Wars (Real-time strategy - sort off) and Scalebound (Bro-Action-RPG).

Except for RPG's none those genres attract my interest and I am not kidding when I say Scalebound is a Bro-Action-RPG. From what I have seen so far the voice acting is cringeworthy although I will reserve judgment on the gameplay.

Unless you pre-ordered, the PS4pro is going to be in short supply this year. Hoping to pick up one next year even though I already have a PS4.

A 1TB disk drive, SATA3 (up to 600MB/sec compared to SATA2 300MB/sec), 4.2Tflops compared to 1.8Tflops, 1.3 times CPU clock frequency plus an additional 1GB RAM is very attractive not to mention the $400 USD price which was the same as the launch price of the PS4.

You can actually use the PSVR in cinema mode with the following:
Xbox One
Xbox 360
PlayStation 3
PlayStation 4 - obviously, but I put in to say you can still use it.
Nintendo Wii U
PCs
Blu-ray Players
Cable

@343_Guilty_Spark

For your No 1 point: The XB1 was supposed to be always online, then online every 24 hours then not online only when Microsoft realised that gamers did not like this and voted with their wallet.

For your No 2 point:
a) BC is a great value added feature and will sell consoles but only at the start of the consoles release not two years down the time track. This has been proven with PS4 sales being almost twice as many as those of...

I do think an important factor of the 3DS is that it is fairly kid resistant. The Nintendo Switch in its portable mode does not look all that robust especially if you consider assume that kids will be using it as well. At least the Nintendo 3DS fits into a packet while the Switch does not.

You do have to ask the question as to why you did not see any kids playing the Switch in the reveal. All were either late teens or adults.

Well, Nintendo may bring out the 3DSpro 😉

I would not call worldwide sales of 32.93 million a failure although in comparison to the PlayStation1 which sold 102.49 million worldwide it did not do as well. Now if we look at the Sega Saturn (9.26 million) and Dreamcast (9.13 million) worldwide sales those can be considered a failure although if they did make a profit for Sega then they did have some success.

The Sony Vita (14.3 million) is the only real competition to Nintendo's 3DS (59.3 million) and if you look...

I think the question to ask is. "Would you give a Nintendo Switch to a child to go out and play with his/her friends?"

Or a better question to ask is. "Would you give a child a Sony Vita handheld or a Nintendo 3DS?" This assumes that the child is happy with the games on the particular console of choice. The question is related to hardware, not games, if it was related to games then obviously the Nintendo 3DS would be the winner.

Lets put it this way. If you wish to get a Nintendo gaming machine for your child (say 5 to 15 years old) would you consider the "Switch" or the "3DS"? Assuming you are the adult and earn or have money.

If you answered "Switch" then you have more money than sense.or you are lying about being a wage-earning adult.

As for the PlayStation (exception Vita) and XBox brands they are consoles and as such are basically static devices...

@vega275

For those who already have XBox360 games, backward compatibility is great and a value-added feature. There is only one problem with this and that is you have to have an XBox360 game that you want to play on your XB1.

For people who have an XB1 and wish to play an XBox360 game for nostalgia purposes, they really do have to have that game or go out and purchase it (admittedly it would be relatively cheap). The majority of XB1 owners probably would ...

Skyrim remastered for the PS4 and XB1 has not been released yet.(release date is 28 Oct 2016) so I would be surprised that it would be available for the Nintendo Switch considering the console/tablet's release date is around 5 months away. It would be easier to take a video and make the tablet play it.

It is very easy to grab a video of say "Star Citizen" and play it on my PS4 and state that this is me playing "Star Citizen" on my PS4. Of course, it would be a lie but I could easily make it look realistic. However, we know that Nintendo would not stoop to such blatant lying since they could easily be found out.

Actually, Gears of War looks fantastic when played on my PS4 and I am really looking forward to playing Zelda and Metroid next. 😉

The Scorpio is over a year away from releasing while the PS4 pro is due out worldwide in about 18 days. Even with the Switch which is due out in March 2017 (about 5 months from now) will still have a lead of around six months on the Scorpio.

I know allot of people are very happy with the Switch reveal but Shareholders of Nintendo stock were not and Nintendo's share prices have dropped 6.5% http://www.bloo...

Cartridges won't really garner third party support since they will be more expensive than Bluray disks. Then you also have to consider patching and DLC support although I suppose if you make the primary cartridge of a larger capacity which will cost more, it may be possible.

In news of the future, a "dog walker" and a van full of frat boys were involved in a serious accident and are all in hospital in a serious condition. When police investigated they found that they were all playing Pokemon Go and according to witnesses had just captured a rare one when the accident occurred.

The driver of the van was not injured but shaken and has been sent to a home for the bewildered mainly because he keeps shouting out that "I used to be an ...

The PSVR can display VR games and at the moment those games are specific to the PS4, however it can also be used to display the output of the PS3, WiiU, XB1 and even the PC in cinema mode: http://www.playstationlifes...

I think I would call it a display device unless people call a TV or monitor a gimmick

SATA3 (6Gb/sec with a throughput up to 600MB/sec) is much faster than SATA2 (3Gb/sec with a throughput up to 300MB/sec). Now your limiting factors will be your storage device be it SSD or HDD.

Note: Gb is Gigabits while GB is Gigabytes and 8 bits = 1 Byte.

Rather than me go on to explain why you just can't divide by 8 in the SATA specs there are plenty of technical sites that can explain it better and in more detail.

The more I read...
