You guys are doing a pretty good job of predicting his list. From what i gathered from him, though, he's seriously convinced Halo is not one of the absolute best FPSes of all time.
And he's played Raven Shield. He's been playing games since he was 5 years old but on mentioning Raven Shield, he simply remarked, "GRAW was better." :P
How he does things is completely up to him, I'm afraid. He'd beat some one to death with the first Xbox 1 controller to prove how big and unwieldy it is. :P
As for milking hits, consider this: Every single game is unique. Forget the impact they created, the various expansions they brought about, the number of new tricks brought to the table or how fun they were. Each game has it's own essence that is hard to isolate, much less explicitly define in the right amount of words. Word ...
And this being EDGE is saying a lot, given their recent controversies with opinions.
As noted by a member of the site, this is not meant to be a list of the greatest games of all time but rather of the greatest games to play today. In other words, Chrono Trigger being a whole lot better than Chrono Cross. The problem is, this approach is highly subjective and selective - the author, I'm guessing, didn't want this to turn into a numbers or popularity argument and went with games b...
Agree with most of the games on this list. Any kid who aspires to experience the finest in gaming must play Chrono Trigger and Tetris.
Seeing Super Bomberman implores me to add another choice in the Bomberman category: Saturn Bomberman. The multiplayer was extremely addictive, so much so that it was scored highly solely on the basis of it. The game remains a classic case of exemplary party play.
It's up to Ravi (author of this article and a colleague of mine). He decides to make it an article it a day, it's up to him. Makes sense considering the magnitude of the task.
Sanity: Aiken's Artifact starring smooth rapper by day, psionic detective by night Ice Cube. :D
Genesis and Angeal were both getting beaten by Sephiroth. And then Genesis wanted to play tough guy, but still got beaten down before the large amount of destruction caused Angeal to stop the fight. I think Genesis was infected or some thing afterwards, for which Sephiroth felt guilty (they were friends after all).
On that note, Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII.
What the hell's up with the weather-related names, Square?
Wasn't that he was tuning out bad values or opinions, but that he was tuning out ALL values and opinions. Even things like friendship and love were viewed as stupid, even inferior for his status but even he discovered later on that be it a person or a cause, you need something to fight for.
And hey, difference in opinion, right? It's cool and it's allowed. :)
@cyguration:
Hence Cloud being the one in the title pic. But honestly, I think Squall is more annoying. At least Cloud knows when to keep his mouth shut at the right times and just fight. :D
There was also this character named MOMO from XenoSaga; she was always the subject of torture from the series' antagonist. Man did she use to cry a lot. And she was a doll, so she came with all the "I want to be human" mental (or digital) baggage.
"Can the 360 and Wii Save the PS3???"
F**k you, Rescue Rangers. Now I think every rescue scenario involves every one involved to like each other and go out for ice cream. :(
Beyond Good and Evil 2 is talked about in the post, but the major item of note is their hiring of staff for a brand new IP.
Opinions have been and are totally worthy of being posted on N4G (that's what the whole category for Article is for).
As for what forms the basis of an opinion, it's usually a factual basis and an ability to deduce observations, even relevant predictions and trends from those facts. The journalist may have extensive experience with the game, and well-versed with the FPS genre. HHG hasn't always followed this routine, but you can't judge a site's rep based on a few articles. Alter...
It earlier used to be a quandary on games like MGS4 selling great and moving PS3 units, but Sony lost money on each unit due to the inability to break even. The sooner they can break even, and then follow that up with a price cut will be a real turning point in the console wars.
On another topic: Does any one think Yakuza 3 will get a NA or PAL release after it's success in Japan?
First day as well? Yup. :3
Current data estimates the total units sold to be the same number as total units on the same day. So the number could actually be more by now...given that this is last week's data that's been released.
Because when you have something on the scale of God of War 3, when there's just so much actually to the game, and when everything that's knocked your socks off till this point isn't even the tip of the iceberg...Well, what other hype is warranted if not monstrous hype? Thankfully, SCE Santa Monica isn't letting it go to their heads like some people (CliffyB, looking at you; looking at you real not nice-like).
I think we can all agree it'd be nice if God of War 3's credibility isn't as strongly questioned as Killzone 2's was. :)
I stopped after the first 2 lines after doubting your sanity and sources of opinion. :|
Five lines of news which reads like a reposted press release and about 20 lines of space occupied by a Marapets ad. My eyes...-__-;;
Found it particularly interesting that both of the above titles were released in the same year just a few months apart, had a female protagonist, spy themes and were classics. And they both didn't sell well. :(
