Honestly have we seen a console like Xbox before where it went from good competition to now where it can't even stand against playstation or Nintendo? It's truly sad what Xbox has become given the vast amount of MS resources available to them

MS invested 85-90 billion on all acquisitions of publishers and studios and I don't blame them for wanting better revenue

MS has laid off 20k plus and they are worth 3 trillion even they are saying they can't sustain this. The only way Game Pass is profitable is when Microsoft does not account for its first party games development cost. And those are the games that cost the most those are AAA Blockbuster Games

But you keep believing what you want reality is much different and the way we see it is the days of gamepass or numbered Microsoft will not keep putting money into it just like Nokia...

I said it the day Game Pass was announced — it cannot be sustained at the current price point. Charging $20 a month just isn’t enough. For Xbox Game Pass to survive and thrive, it needs to cost between $40 to $45, even if that means the user base drops by 5 million users. That’s fine — it’s about quality over quantity. But there should be no monthly option. Users should be required to sign up for at least six months. That kind of model gives stability, allows developers to get paid fairly, an...

Most AAA games today cost $150–200 million. $90 million is considered low-end, and publishers like Sony, Microsoft, Bethesda, EA, Ubisoft, and Take-Two usually spend more

So after spending that kind of money your game is played by 15 million players yet the actual sales are less than 1 million that's a problem. Expedition 33 is a clear example of this. It sold 90% of its copies on PS5 and PC. If there was on GP it would have sold 1-2 million that's 100 million dolla...

The reason it’s a better model is because it gives developers a chance to first sell their games at full MSRP, letting them recoup costs and earn revenue from early sales. Then, once that wave is over, they can choose to bring the game to PlayStation Plus and get a payout from Sony. But when a brand-new AAA blockbuster launches directly on Game Pass, it might not sell a million copies—even if 15 million people play it—so developers miss out on royalties, bonuses, and actual sales

It is astonishing that some of the biggest Xbox Defenders have completely disappeared from this site ever since these layoffs were announced

Note

Even a gas station clerk can tell when a game has been in development for over 8 years with absolutely nothing to show but some vertical pieces its time to cancel it and move on.

We been saying that for years now but Xbox fanboys refuse to accept the fact it's an amazing deal for gamers and worst for developers and publishers who depend on games sales which equals to their royalties snd bonuses

15 million players played doesn't mean much to a developer but only 2 million were sales. With all the wrong decisions MS have made with Xbox brand since 2011 till now there is no turning back. Whether we like it or not in 10 years time Xbox will be ...

The 2 games you named were actually games while perfect dark was nothing more than concept of what it could become. I am all for creative freedom but I am against Studios managing themselves because a lot of times the creative people don't know how to manage or how to run the business side of things

Sony likely wouldn’t mind putting Helldivers 2 on Game Pass — if the price tag hits eight figures. But considering all the recent layoffs and internal cutbacks, it’s clear Microsoft is looking to rein in Xbox-related expenses. So realistically, why would they shell out that kind of money right now?

Phil Spencer and Xbox leadership have also reshaped the mindset of the Xbox fanbase — and not necessarily in a good way. It’s like in professional sports: if you’re a max-level p...

Seriously started in 2016 if I am not wrong and had nothing to show actual gameplay wise. 9 years of resources wasted

Atleast Sony got a game out and not spend 9 years trying to reboot 1 franchise. Or spend 500 million on halo infinite only to basically kill the IP until it can get a proper reboot via a remake

Why would Sony allow GP on their console or even Nintendo? GP is great for gamers and bad for business. TAKE TWO CEO said it best a while ago GP should be for legacy titles not brand new AAA games that cost hundreds of millions to make. We are seeing that MS no longer want to fund Xbox related expenses, they want Xbox to be self sufficient

You are wrong they will not leave hardware because having their own hardware meaning not only GP related income but all the 3rd party ...

This is the sad reality of where so many of these big corporations and AAA gaming has come to AI is only going to get bigger and these corporations will try to get rid of as many people as possible and just try to replace them with AI not realizing the actual people bring with them genuine ideas emotions passion that AI simply cannot replicate

I am not against AI it should be used to make the experience better not to actually create the experience itself as I'm growing ...

Microsoft spent half a billion dollars on Halo Infinite—and we all saw how that turned out. I just don’t get why they don’t hit reset on the entire franchise. Remake Halo 1, 2, and 3 properly, then continue the story from there. It’s not that complicated.

Honestly, a lot of this comes down to mismanagement. The studios clearly lack a unified vision. How do you have Microsoft’s level of resources and still release games in such a broken state?

Now there’s ...

They spent billions to acquire talent and studios, but failed to put the right management in place to ensure success. Microsoft isn't the first company to make this mistake, and they won't be the last. The truth is, the gaming industry we once knew is gone. It’s no longer about creativity, passion, or listening to fans—it’s about spreadsheets, quarterly reports, and decisions made to satisfy shareholders, not gamers.

We’re watching the soul of an art form get hollow...
