It's important to recognize how modern gaming has shifted. The Nintendo Switch 2’s hardware operates under a license model, meaning Nintendo ultimately retains control—even if you've purchased the device. This also applies to physical game copies, which increasingly only include download links, reinforcing the idea that you're purchasing a license, not true ownership. Unfortunately, this is becoming the norm in today’s gaming industry.

My comment mentioned persona 5. Selling 9 million over multiple years isn't better than selling 5 million in first 30 days. Initial 60-90 days is when companies sell their games at full price to receive the maximum profits
As far as square Enix goes they were unhappy with tomb raider reboot selling 7.5 million. So their standard must be something crazy high. My point stands as a company you will appeal to a much wider audience if your game isn...
Haven't given them a single penny since SNES. Their fans defend them like they are a cult and no matter what will buy $80-$90 games and be happy with it
It's ironic that the company with the least powerful console started to charge the most for hardware, software and accessories. It will be very interesting to see how NS2 will perform once the release hype goes down. I don't see many family gamers spending that type of money
Lol
Why FF needs to go back when by going real time fans like me bought the game into millions? There are enough turn base games so why people keep asking SE to go back. Here is a fact but very unpopular opinion
Compared to turn base games real time combat is more appealing and those games tend to sell more. That's why publishers that use to make games using TBC have moved away from that. Also another reason is tech back in the day couldn't handle all the cool real tim...
It's really sad since Phil was talking about preserving the games
Bingo
This is where the fall started. Just look at the last 24-36 months of Xbox 360 and PS3. Software support wise it wasn't even close. Many at that time said Xbox is getting ready for next generation and gave them a pass for poor exclusices releases. We all know now that was the beginning of the downfall.
I really don't understand how you get to have MS resources yet can't compete with either playstation or Nintendo. Sad thing is now is the...
I will probably check it out on gamepass. But will buy down the road when it's around $15-20. Sign up for GP and play the games if you like a certain game buy it later for less
I think this is the first GTA where Sony doesn't have to pay at all or a lot for exclusive marketing. What choice does R* have for partners? One console sells all the games while other console has gamers who consume their content through a subscription service (not hating on either just stating facts)
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sold more than 90% on PS5. The sales breakdown just gives Sony a huge advantage when negotiating deals. Their platform sell games.
These consoles were out dated at launch but consoles have never been more powerful than a Pc. I don't understand the hate towards each other
It's 2025 consoles are much closer to PC's why all the hate? There are those celebrating that pc gamers will have to wait longer it's just mind boggling that gamers amongst themselves are hating on each other
As a Pc gamer I have no dislike towards consoles. More power to those who want to play it on platform of their choice. No need to spread hate/negativity
Hey Neo, I just wanted to clarify that I wasn’t trying to single out Xbox in my earlier comment. I genuinely wasn’t taking shots at any one platform—my disappointment was more about the trend we're seeing across the board in the industry.
There were strong rumors about a full Gears of War Collection, so I was really hoping for something like a complete package—ideally including all the Gears games and DLC. Even if they priced it at $79.99, I think a full, definitive edi...
Man I don't know why even though I am signed up for GP ultimate I just can't play games if I don't own it. I feel rushed I hate it I was never able to play rental games
Sadly that's true for so many re-releases. We know GTA6 will come out on PS5/XS than PC and when next Xbox and PS6 comes out it will release on it at full price again
Gaming today is a far cry from what it was 20 or even just 10 years ago. The days of browsing aisles at GameStop or Walmart to pick up a new release for your PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 feel like ancient history. We’re in a new era now—one that prioritizes digital licenses over physical ownership, and profits over player satisfaction.
Just take a walk through any major retailer today. At Walmart, the PS5 section may still be stocked, but most of the Xbox Series X games are on...
Christopher this collection has been rumored for a while so I guess you are right I was just hoping for a complete collection
so i guess we can rule out a gears of war collection and now instead will get 1 game at a time at $40. MS have gone the complete other direction now it's all about maximum revenue
I was really hoping for a Gears of War collection that included all the games
After the recent announcement of price hikes for Xbox related stuff it would not surprise me if all Gears of War games are sold separately for $40 it seems Microsoft wants to generate as much revenue as possible now so we won't be getting any more collections

Keep this in mind
Publishers may make a lot less copies of physical games so this way they can even dictate that used market stays high. I am a Pc gamer so buying digital has been accepted it is what it is
I will not pay $70 for games never. Will always wait for $25-$30
For the amount of money it's going to cost to own a console you might as well build a mid range PC that gives you more options. You get multiple store fronts to buy from to get a better piece and mod aupport
I think they will continue to utilize all their IP's. They have found how to succeed and that's by making fun games
