So in the old model...
Gamers buy a physical copy of the game. They play the game in a few days then truck it back to a slimy retailer like Gamestop (People there are not slimy but the corporation is) and trade it in where Gamestop hoards the profits and when they resell the game the money stays with Gamestop not giving the developer/publishers anything.
In the GamePass/PSNow model....
Gamers subscribe and games are put on the service....
I disagree that Windows GamePass isn't as good as XB GamePass. Windows GamePass has a ton of really good strategy/RTS games that you can't get on console.
@shabz666
Yes Outer Wilds is on GamePass. And so is Dragon Quest XI.... Both high on my list for this next month.
I agree this is a stupid click bait article.
But to imply that people who have game pass don't love games is really stupid. This also applies to PSNow as well.
GamePass/PSNow is for people who love games but are cost conscious. And it is not just quantity. Through GamePass/PSNow I have played RE7, DMC5, Darksiders Genesis, Outer Worlds, God of War, Gears Tactics, Age of Empires, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Wolfenstein II, The Division, Yakuza 0,...
Metro Reduz's, Bioshocks, Deadpool, DMC, RE (Except 2 and 3), Baja, Prototypes, AC remasters, Batman remasters, Call of Duty Remasters, Dark Souls, Deadrising remasters, Dead Island remasters, Dishonored remasters, Elder Scrolls Skyrim, Lego Harry Potter, Mafia remasters, Marvel Ultimate Alliance remasters, Shadow Complex, Transformers remasters, etc.
I find I like both.
I have consoles throughout my home on TVs. This allows me to game in more places, and they are really easy to manage.
I have a powerful gaming PC as well in my den. Because you can't beat the best the PC has to offer.
I also use streaming on my phone and tablets now when my Console or PC is unavailable to me.
People keep saying this but the number of players keeps going up....
And LOL.... You do realize that not everyone buys a game and plays it end to end when they get it. I know lots of people that buy games and play them for 10 minutes and give up. Souls games are notorious for acquiring then not playing... Racing games, tons of people buy them and only go through a single race or two. Open world games like GTA and Red Dead... Same. They still count everyone who plays t...
@Chevalier
I wasn't comparing any vendor to any other vendor. Just tired of a lot of non-gamers saying Microsoft isn't making any games... I wasn't comparing vendor to vendor.
I agree the timeframes of the games are unknown. But, to say MS has nothing is really factually wrong.
@jairusmonillas
LOL. Sure.... You are really living in the past...
Windows Phone - MS shutdown years ago
Edge- MS just released...
We all know Microsoft does not have exclusives... Microsoft has moved on from exclusivity.... Obviously you haven't. No XB games are exclusive. They ship on PC at least alongside XB. And before you say, "Then, there is no reason to buy an XB because I can get the games on PC".... Maybe people buy XBox so they don't have to buy a gaming PC.
So Microsoft isn't going to release anything you aren't interested in?
Continued Minec...
No it isn't worrisome.
Studios have turnover that is how it is. A studio has to be a team. One or two people even if they are key people do not kill the team.
I'm not going to defend Fallout 76 because to me it was garbage.
But these guys have a long history of really good open world RPGs prior to Fallout 76.
Killing them for one bad game is not cool.
I will agree that Destiny is one of the best feeling shooters on the market. It's feel is pretty much the same as Halo games they made. When I go into Destiny and play it feels exactly like a Halo game from an FPS perspective.
But, that is my point in a lot of ways. Bungie has the tech but their execution has been flawed Execution is not just a super awesome mechanics. It is immersion, story telling, gameplay, sound, etc. Destiny is a technically awesome game, but ...
@StoneyYoshi
I don't deny PS5 has a faster SSD then SX.
But just like the 12 vs 10 tfps argument, this is really falls under the laws of diminishing returns.
The first time I transferred 5 GB (not TB) to another hard drive with more capacity back in the 1990's it took 3 days. YES 3 DAYS! Regular hard drives load games from seconds to minutes today. SSDs now load games in seconds. Does it really matter that instead of 12 secs, somethi...
Factually wrong across the board. PS and XB have nothing on Switch.
Switch is sold as a console so it was #1. Show me one major gaming site that does not consider Switch a console.
Also switch has Hades and Animal Crossing.... Both nominated for GOTY. So their software is just as strong as PS.
For best overall system I would say Switch again.... It is a console, and handheld and has really good games. The biggest flaw with Switch ...
@Zeeb
Nope. More like new games in 2022 onward that do not support the previous consoles.
It will take a year to optimize these consoles and then another year before we see games that truly push them.
It never ceases to amaze me how Nintendo grabs spots over a game like Spider-man Milles Morales.
For all the hype, Nintendo games just have amazing legs and staying power with very little hype overall.
And even look at Minecraft..... LOL.
"New Game Projects Have Been in the Works for Three Years; One Is Particularly Exciting"...
So the others aren't.... lol.
Ya we are less than 4 weeks into the generation and you can now declare the performance in games is locked.
That is really stupid. We don't know how optimized systems are yet, and as newer games come out doing different things this may become a differentiator.
Running a bunch of games that not only ship on both consoles but also ship for last gen is not at all a good way to assess the new hardware. Whether it be PS5, XSX, or XSS. We will really see...
We all need a Lost Odyssey 2.
The best of both worlds....
PS5 and PSNow!
