To me, games are as long as they are.
If they feel like you are aimlessly going through the game and it feels redundant then it is too long. But I have also played a lot of long games where you do a lot of character development and there is a a large engaging story with lots of side things to do and they don't feel redundant.
The only genre where redundancy is accepted as a norm is sports and racing games. They are just redundant because of their na...
DriveClub's launch was awful. But they fixed the game and it turned out good. I do not forgive developers who ship broken messes though.
And talking about really good non-sim racers Forza Horizon 4 is the top of the pile.
Project Cars is nothing compared to GT and Forza Motorsports.
I think TLOU2 is well balanced story and technical.
They should've named this the most advertised games of 2020.
The Last of Us II, Ghost, Doom Eternal, and Spider-man MM deserved to be there. Most of the others were thin at best.
Borderlands 3 wasn't even a 2020 game.
RE3, Zombie Army 4, Marvel Avengers, Project Cars 3, and CoD Cold War are laughable.
Noticeably missing was Demon's Souls, Yakuza Like a Dragon, Flight Simulator, Hades, Crusader Kings II...
It is a bit better because it is only console launch exclusive.
But, I don't think gamers should be locked out of any games, even if it is for a small period of time.
Exclusives are stupid. I call them the "easy marketing button". What is the easiest way to sell a console? Make stuff people want that is exclusive. What is the real way a console should be marketed? Make really good hardware and have really good OS/Firmware and services/s...
Switch continues to be the beast console.
Schooling both Sony and Microsoft on what a console should be.
That is a sizable "niche" market.
Imagine how sales could be if it wasn't also on GamePass.
@Silly gameAr
You don't need to be an insider to figure out games are slipping. Many third party launch games slipped into 2021... And on the first party side the games are already slipping for 2021.... GT already pushed out of first half.
It is likely that most 2021 games slip as the 2 month period where there was a worldwide (mostly) lockdown, a lot of studios ended up slowing down or working remotely. 90% of games ship with bugs on them when they are on ...
Yes, they announce a new Quake and I am in for sure. Quake CHampions fell flat on PC, but I would like to see a new one for sure with a Quake campaign.
It is amazing how ell Doom has come back with the reboot and now Eternal.
Just goes to show that you don't always need to create new IPs. Sometimes the old ones specifically Doom, Wolfenstein, and God of War this past generation, can be re-invented and better then ever.
@RazzerRedux
I totally agree the volume is different. But to me, that is based on two things:
1) Gaming media who thinks that taking any random (or non-random) person from one company to another somehow has a console war implication
2) Gaming media trying to highlight and magnify problems a studio may be having in the development of a game.
To me, there is no factual evidence that either has any truth to it. AAA games are developed by ...
Agreed. Really, anytime there is an employee that leaves from any studio. We get it... Just like every other company in the world developers have turnover. This is not news.
What does the gaming press write about when they are bored?
All the major games for the holiday are out, the new hardware has shipped, now for the next whatever months we get articles on,
"Console A has no games", yet another, "Console A vs Console B in Game Z", "Console'A's is the most exciting thing since sliced bread". and of course, "Console A outsold Console B in Country Z for Month G".
I bought a clip for a controller for Android phone and really did not like it. Switched to Razr Kishi for android phone and love it.
I agree with what you were saying, but there were a bunch of gaming idiots jumping on forums like these each time it was delayed and ripping into CDPR for delaying the game. This is a case where they were not going to win no matter what approach they took.
Gamers had many chances to save Codemasters. They have consistently delivered well-rated games for years, but gamers just don't buy them as much as the big names like GT, NFS, Forza Horizon, and Forza Motorsports. Instead gamers wait to buy their games on huge digital sales or in used game bargain bins not benefitting Codemasters much.
Although a bunch of people really hate EA (and for good reason), I think EA is figuring things out. I would encourage gamers to asses...
It is obvious that XB has a bunch of titles coming.
First, I they are not exclusive. They also ship on PC and the ones that ship on PC will probably also ship on Steam. so exclusivity does not exist for most XB titles.
Second, I think the "tap" for content from Microsoft has already opened. This past year MS development studios either published or developed the following titles: Flight Simulator, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Bleeding Edg...
There is no such promise because they don't own ZeniMax yet. They are waiting for government approval of the deal.
Personally, I think all ZeniMax games in development were already developing for multi-platform. So I think what we can expect is that GamePass subscribers get the game for free on XB and PC, and Steam and PS owners will have to pay for the game. The next iteration of games afterwards is up in the air probably based on how this model helps or does not ...
I am excited for Hogwart's Legacy, but at the same time, we haven't seen enough to know whether it will be good or not. A lot of people were all in on Marvel Avengers this year well before it shipped. And lets just say it wasn't even close to a GOTY contender.
And there was a ton of hype for Cyberpunk, and I am personally finding it a good game, but there is a lot of glitches and bugs in it taking away from the experience.
I left day one pur...
