They don't have to diversify. If they want to grow substantially they need to appeal to more gamers. Bt, you don't have to diversify the type of games you make to do that.
Elden Ring is a core gamer's game for sure and probably the most anticipated for core gamers.
But, Forza Horizon 5 is probably the most anticipated from a broad set of gamers. It is the first first party racing game to appear this generation, and it is also the highest rating racing franchise over the past decade.
I wish most anticipated game had two categories. Core Gamer's and General Gamers.
You do realize that all the cloud gaming vendors continue to improve the experience right?
Personally, I have been shocked at how well xCloud plays. They aren't there yet, but, they have improved the experience a ton for games like shooters.
And your comment about Halo and Gears is cringe worthy. Especially since MS is releasing Flight Simulator, Sea of Thieves Expansion, Psychonauts 2, and Forza Horizon along with Halo for the rest of the year. ...
You are totally brainwashed too...
Publishers: Buy our game at $20-100 USD depending on MSRP. Won't even talk about other countries.
You: I will comply and only play your game because that is all I can afford for the next month to three months.
LOL. Just like every other company on the planet does. OK.
And that is the great! Gamers should have the options to choose whatever platform of hardware and services they want. What I don't like is that some gamers are excluded because they chose a specific platform and now yet another publisher is going exclusive.
Gaming is the only entertainment medium where exclusivity sells the hardware. If I buy a Samsung blu-ray I can buy any disc to use in it. When I buy a music CD I can play it in any CD player. But when I buy a...
I wouldn't say that. I think there is a broad number of gamers that want things easy, for sure. But these kinds of hardcore RPG games are becoming less and less. So, I think there is a market for a large budget hardcore RPG. As a first party studio now, MS/Bethesda should not be doing generic games that everyone else is doing. They should be pushing the envelope and providing more game diversity to the XB lineup. That may not appeal to everyone, but I think that is what brings succe...
@boring1
Excellent. I hope XB Series does the same thing. I want to play FS on my console, but, at the same time I don't want it eating my NVMe drives.
@EmperorDalek
Flight Simulator was not announced in the trailer as available for XBO a few days back and I wouldn't hold my breath that it is coming there.
I have been around development a long time (not games). You don't start by building a app or game on a higher spec and then downscale it to a lower spec device. You start by building it on the lower spec device and then tuning it for the higher spec device. What if you found out your game can't be...
@DaveZero
I said this is a generational problem. It is not just XB or PS. It is both. On my XBO I was able to keep a satisfactory amount of games on the console and available. As more and more games require the fast NVMe drive and become larger and larger this is becoming more and more of an issue. AAA games with a full campaign, and full multiplayer will have minimum installs around 100-150 Gb. Add a full multiplayer and these games will top 200-250 Gb by the end of the genera...
I really like Forza Horizon 5 a ton and to me, Forza Horizon is the king of arcade racers.
But, since it is on XBO I find it hard to believe the game is fully next generation.
I am sure the game assets are NextGen, but the game engine is probably an upgraded Forza Horizon 4 engine. No developer would have two completely different code base games when they ship on older devices. I still expect the game to be spectacular. Forza Horizon always is. I just...
I am excited for the Ascent as well. Love twin stick shooters.
I picked it up today digitally. Will start play tomorrow!
I play FH4 a lot. If you haven't played it in a while, to me it looks just as good as FH5.
But, can't wait for FH5 too! I love Forza Horizon. To me, this is the king of arcade racers.
If 30 fps is not smooth enough then you couldn't have started gaming until this past generation. It is dumb to say 30 fps is not smooth enough because almost AAA open world games are 30 fps.
The Last of Us on PS3 won pretty much universal GOTY often falling below 27 fps on on the PS3. you can't say that is lousy gameplay or else they should rescind TLOU GOTY awards.
Yes, this is a huge problem this generation. install a big AAA game and BAM, 1/5 of your NVMe drive is gone. Cannot wait til the price of these drives comes down and the size increases a lot. I am a game surfer and not having enough drive space really makes game surfing a pain.
I don't even want to talk about the PTSD I am getting from my once a week reassessment, uninstalling, and installing to try and predict what games I will want to play next week. Lucky I have ...
I wish for these types of games that you also had the option to download and run from your console and either select geographic areas you want to download to fly in, and/or just stream the data from the cloud (not stream the sim game as well).
@TheTony316
Not sure why people care so much about games being on other consoles. This is an XB article not a "Let's compare to PS" article.
This game was already very smooth and awesome. Getting framerates of 120 fps is insane!
I hope they do this for the first game last gen and all the Wolfenstein games too.
@Magog
I shut off DriveClub after a few hours because its online was completely broken at launch. Not because its framerate made the game stink.
