I don't know if any console will ever do as well as PS2 did. But, PS5 should have no problem being as much or more then PS4.
I didn't see this as a great game from the start. I am surprised it gets this bad of a review (even from IGN who are typically to get 7-9's). If IGN is giving a 4 then I am really concerned. I can't remember the last game I saw on IGN as a 4/10. LOL.
We are over a year from release. Personally, I see that date as a vaporware date. Meaning it is debatable whether they make it and it is susceptible to a delay. The fact that the trailer was in-engine is a good thing.
For me, I don't want to see a trailer until they know it will release within 6 months. Even a trailer at this point was iffy for me.

Until the supply constraint is resolved these articles are useless. You can really only truly compare sales when supply is unconstrained.
In an unconstrained environment PS could be outselling XB as high as 4:1.
First you have no idea how much was paid. But, any opportunity to put out and develop a new IP I applaud. I want new IPs.
I am not sure that would've made the game any more desirable to buy. I skipped this one, and I have absolutely no regrets. Will pick it up when it is on sale as a complete version of the game.
I think the problem is that expectations are just way too high. People are expecting some new super innovative game to be announced.
I think there are a lot of great games being announced, but the days of extreme innovations going from 8-bit to 16-bit, 32-bit, 64-bit, and beyond are gone. I think exclusives are just wrong. As I continue to say, the only reason for exclusives is to sell hardware. But in no other entertainment media is there exclusives. Movies - All movies play on all blu-ray players, Music - All CDs play on all CD players.
The PS and XB consoles are almost exactly the same from a technical perspective. Sure their are speed differences in SSD, memory, GPU, and CPU, but the overall architectures are the same. There is no reason not to have...

If they remaster it, they should take the time and upgrade all the visual assets. It was a great game, but it is well documented that they had to work really hard to make it work on 360.
There is a lot playing into this for the first two years of a console cycle.
First everyone is trying to understand the hardware and differences between hardware.
Second, and probably even bigger is that the firmware/OS/development tools for the new systems can have performance degradation bugs.
Kind of disappointed on how far along they are after announcing in 2019. Personally, they should showed that trailer this year. But, the assets that they showed for the game look extremely good. Hopefully, worth the wait.
Maybe they should've did a Trailer like The Outer Worlds 2.
Honestly it is hard to form a real opinion on this game from the trailer. I liked the humor, the graphics were good, and the premise is interesting. Same with Starfield. When they said tease they really meant tease.
But as for the story and gameplay we don't know much yet, It has potential. Anyone saying it is the greatest ever or worst ever is just being crazy right now.

I don't remember the article stating that nobody has ever played games 6 months later.
The title may be better if it was "Playground found more gamers play their games 6 months later on gamepass".
But if you actually read the article you'd get that. Which you obviously didn't do... Either that or you just want to hate on anything Microsoft and gamepass. You do you either way.
Although the article does not explain a reason, I would think it has to do with the resale market. Lot's of cost conscious gamers buy games, binge play them, then resell them, and never come back. With gamepass it is different because you always get the game (as long as it is still on the service).
I don't think cross gen really holds back a game visually. But, it does hold games back from a gameplay and AI innovation perspective,

I think you are mistaken. One conference does not shift the mind share that Sony has in the market. But, at the same time you can see that XB has made progress. PS5 is not outselling the XB Series like the PS4 outsold XBO.
And in the market XB is not losing momentum like it did with XBO.

Returnal is good but it has no chance for GOTY.
Horizon Forbidden West though. Assuming it releases this year is probably going to be a candidate. Also, Ratchet & Clank I am having fun with and think it is better then Returnal.
As for GameZenith's comment.... Both Returnal and Ratchet & Clank are exclusive to PS5. If you don't know anything about PS then don't comment on it.

You can change story, mechanics, and gameplay in the games you make to make them appeal more broadly.
Final Fantasy, Dragon's Quest, Kingdom Hearts, etc. are all great games, but, they also could have a lot of things changed to improve their appeal to a broader audience.
I have gamed in every generation so far. For, me it is 360/PS3/Wii generation. The competition was fierce amongst the three, and there was a ton of innovation to what modern games are today.
Next for me was the second generation. Going from simple pong to things like evolution, pac-man, asteroids, centipede, donkey kong, etc. just lit up the possibilities and sent gaming on constant growth.
