I just wish all companies would stop showing stuff that won't be seen until after the next E3. It is kind of dumb that a yearly event relies on showing stuff that everyone knows has no chance shipping in the next 12 months.
To me it is false hype.
PS3 $600 on day one.
Personally, I think VR today is nowhere near what it will become. I am not missing out on anything.
Plus, I have a PC that is very capable of VR (in fact I have a few that are). If I want it I could go and buy it.
I would like them to ship a complete game on day one.
Yep. And Sony makes you buy four devices to play all those games.
With MS you only need an XB1 to play the monthly X360 and X1 games.
Sony sees their consoles sales and don't care.
There is no incentive for them to do better.
Gamers keep buying their console at record paces.
Why would they do anything?
Did anyone read why they did this?
XP from the SP campaign will count to MP... Therefore every time you earn XP in SP (everytime you collect or shoot something) they have to update your online profile to include it otherwise they won't be in sync. I can understand that. Not sure I agree but I do understand why.
The real bummer in their announcement was that the beta starts April 8 and the game ships a month later. Essentially saying the beta is a demo ...
@GrimDragon
Correct, MS has not told us exactly what they will do, but rather than assuming the worst possible scenario, people need to start thinking about what should be practically done and go from there.
I would like MS to make a promise. That when I buy an Xbox today, that it will run all releases of XB games for the next 7 years (decently). That way, I pick and choose when I want to upgrade my console in a 7 year period. I don't want to buy the console ev...
So can you name one feature of an XB console that has "PC Aspirations" and that the competing PS4 console does not have or do?
The only things Microsoft has announced different from Sony is:
1) That they want the console to become more like iPads, Smart Phones, and PCs where there are continuous improvements to the hardware while maintaining both backwards and to some degree forwards compatibility.
2) They have also made it so that ...
I'm passing on VR across the board. I don't think accessories should be more than $200.
@RegorL
No device is 100% Backwards compatible with everything that was ever released on it.
My home has iPads/iPods/iPhones and there are many older programs that just fail on the newer devices. And others that got removed from the Apple Store because they weren't compatible anymore.
Actually, DOS/Windows PCs have done this for decades. This is what keeps businesses running Windows. The crap they developed 25 years ago still works on a new PC.
I think in the future the model will require PC gamers to pay for the network. Or XBL online gaming will become free.
There is processing, storage, and network infrastructure behind online networks. People seem to think this stuff is all free, but in reality it is just being paid for in different forms. Whether it be in transactions in games, game monthly subscriptions, price of games, royalties to network holders, etc. No matter how we look at it, gamers pay for the netw...
So what's your point?
Please state one article where Microsoft stated that because of DX12, SW Battlefront would run at 900p like the PS4?
They never promised better resolution or framerates from DX12. They said, performance improvements were on a case-by-case basis.
They are simply treating XBox One and Windows equally.
And as much as people complain about exclusives shipping on Windows, they should realize this goes both ways. UWP allows developers on PC to ship just as easily on X1. Hence the huge uptick in Indie games on X1 since the move to the Windows 10 OS.
Pre-ordered and waiting!
Quantum Break has saved me $60.
Assuming I like the game I would've bought it on both X1 and PC. Now, I own it for both at one price!
So much for gamers buying consoles to play the best exclusive games.
Sony had a good strategy waiting for the others to say their price. It makes PSVR look cheap.
But in reality it is more than a console and the most expensive add-on ever created for a console.
I'm passing on the whole VR thing for now. I bought Oculus devt kit a year and a half ago. It now sits on my shelf. VR has a lot of issues to resolve before I jump in.
Nice. BC is bringing it the last few weeks!
