Exclusives have been part of game marketing since the start. That should change. Specific HW configurations do not result in the best games. What makes great games is solid budget, talent, and time to create the best story, sound, graphics, environment. game play, depth, and breadth.

On PC, you just need the store software to get the games and stores are free to download by anyone. So it doesn't matter whether it is Epic, Steam, Windows store, etc. You can still run the store and games on the same hardware.
On console you only have one store and that is the console vendor's store. It would be nice if console vendors would be more like PC!
You make it sound like Sony relies on hardware sales for a profit. That is not supported by facts. With the R&D, testing, and marketing of new consoles, by the end of the generation hardware is more or less a break even exercise for all three console vendors.

Sony is shipping Dreams, TLOU2 ,and Ghosts this year on current gen consoles, it is highly likely that their big entry for PS5 games will be Dreams, TLOU2, and Ghosts updated to use the new console capabilities rather then a bunch of average launch games. The show should be bigger then one vendor. There are a lot of publishers that go to E3, And both XB and Switch will probably be there. So, maybe Sony should show up.
This next gen I intend only to buy one console rather then three. With streaming services available on PSNow and then xCloud later this year the need to buy more than one console is done. I will just stream one or the other on my PC.

Yes and No.
Yes it won its generation. by a long shot. Wii U and XBO were not very impressive when the generation of consoles are aligned.
But, if you include Switch.... It has already beaten PS4 in Japan. And if it can continue its pace with the new PS5 and XSX releases it may end up beating PS4 world-wide eventually.
