Really generations don't make sense going forward....
If your console is backwards compatible, and you are building on the current OS, then generations disappear. You just buy new hardware when you feel the need to and it plays all the games you already own. It is like owning vehicles. There are no longer generations of vehicles, they just come out with new models every year and people decide when they want to replace them.
Welcome back from under the rock you have been for the past two years.
Why don't you just watch the video. You don't have to believe. Just watch it and you will see.
Ra Ra Ra....
Yet another fanboy journalist article. I really don't know why people insist on, "Xbox can beat Sony" or "Sony will beat Xbox". It doesn't matter. All three console vendors have been around for the past three generations. 2 of them for the last four, and one beyond 4. They will all have something this upcoming generation. I will make the bold prediction:
1) Sony PS5
2) Nintendo Switch/Switch 2
@rainslacker
I am not sure I care too much about console sales. I care about the options that I am given and whether those options suit my requirements. Whoever can sell whatever numbers of millions of consoles and I could not care less. As long as the consoles I buy are well supported by the vendors then I am happy.
I don't know why a gamer cares about console sales, the pace of console sales, or whatever stupid marketing sales, hype, and whatever else. I ...
But, niche games add to diversity on the platform. Truly there is nothing like MS Flight Sim out there today.
LOL. I remember playing Flight Sim as a kid as well. It was so amazing at the time.
I don't see this being game of the year or anything like that, but I do believe it is a diversity game, and it looks like it will have a cult following.
@jznrpg
I don't see any difference. Same game on two platforms. Gimped on PS3 but perfectly fine on PS4. People were even talking about TLOU winning game of the year twice.
Anyone who underestimates what Sony will deliver does so at their own peril.
GOTY 2014 was between Dragon Age Inquiisition, Shadow of Mordor, and Dark Souls II. All three shipped across generations. I don't know how you can say games were hamstrung by shipping on previous gen hardware.
The first year of the generation is typically better looking games on last gen development tools.
You look at games like Uncharted, Gears of War, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Bloodborne, Halo 3, etc, from the 360/PS3 and X1/PS4 generation ...
And do you really think Sony is going to release TLOU2 or Ghosts on current gen and not release it on PS5 upgraded? Sony employed this strategy with the release of TLOU on PS4 and it worked really well.
Everyone is assuming that Sony is not going to employ this strategy. But there is a good chance that they do as well.
Yet another fanboy flaming article.
Gamers don't need fanboy flames ignited. I really wish I could weed out opinion articles!
The problem, again is exclusivity.
I know the Epic Games Store is free and all, but my PC gaming profile is on Steam. If a game doesn't come t Steam I just don't buy it on PC.
I've got a Google Android phone and love it. But, I am not a fan of Stadia. I just don't see the benefit. IT definitely is not there as a replacement to buying a gaming PC or console. So it is in addition to, which just makes it an expensive add.
To me, streaming is a value added service that I will use for travel, not at home where I have hardwired connections to a 500 mpbs internet service provider and when I connect up my PC or console I never have any issues...
The gaming world is changing. The big guns are showing up and trying to muscle their way in.
In the end, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft are the three biggest cloud infrastructures. Games have continually become more and more cloud reliant. Companies will align with these top three to deliver their offerings. It just doesn't make sense for most game developers/publishers to try and build the kind of infrastructure required to run network/cloud games as these companies...
That is not true. Look at the games. The maps got bigger improving scale and detail in draw distances dramatically, the environments got more detailed, the systems got more enemies on maps at once, physics got a lot more realistic, character motion got less robotic looking, and there was a lot more environments to interact with then previously.
The thing we saw this generation vs. previous generations was that these things are not massively obvious changes. But go and pl...
Marketing is just that, marketing.
Any of these companies will make it sound like if you don't buy their console you are somehow second rate. Many brand fanboys are carrying flags for their consoles as if they were part of the marketing department for that console.
it should be up to every gamer what they decide to buy and that should be based on what's important to them starting with games but extending to network, OS features, subscriptions se...
I can't believe gamers give two cents about who is marketing what. Just goes to show the sad state of affairs that brand fanboys drive.
Games should succeed and fail on their own based on quality not hype and marketing.
@travestyj
That's funny 8.4 million gamers are registered on Sea of Thieves. Yes, it is on GamePass and yes it apparently numbers mean nothing because of GamePass. I guess everyone logged in and then never returned.
But, unfortunately it is true that many people really do like Sea of Thieves and play it often. If you look at a game like Crackdown 3 it was released and quickly forgotten on GamePass. Sea of Thieves keeps getting new content and new updates. ...
