You speak as if gameplay isn't the defining factor where game genres are concerned. The simple fact is that there are multiple RPG genres, and you'd have to be insanely obtuse to deny that.
I don't know. How many of Sony's franchises are they going to turn into stupid walking/talking, over emotional, cinematic trash heaps like the new God of War? Nintendo doesn't pull that crap.

Thats not how it works. Publishers don't automatically own every IP they publish. There has to be a specific clause in a contract to grant ownership of an IP to the publisher, otherwise the creators are automatically granted copyrights to the works. PG could create an IP and find a publisher without transferring ownership. Kamiya has a golden reputation. He's never made a bad game. I Have close to a hundred games on my ps3 hdd. The older that system gets, the more nervous I get. What happens when Sony stops supporting it. I don't know what I was thinking.
Twisted Metal bro. Good call on the Tenchu & Colony Wars though. Other good ones would be Strike series, Vigilante 8, Nightmare Creatures, G-Police, Front Mission(localized version of FM5 would be great), Medal of Honor (with the oldschool level design like the ps1 versions), Bushido Blade, Omega Boost, Dino Crisis, Fear Effect, to mention a few. If were talking straight remakes like Crash Bandicoot, Gran Turismo 1&2, GitS, and Twisted Metal 2 would be great, maybe even Ace Combat 3 b...
@sullynathan RE4 really isn't much of an RE game. Its more of a MGS game, minus the stealth, in a macabre setting, where you play as Leon instead of Snake. You can't even compare it to any game that came before it in the franchise because its a completely different genre.
I agree that it shouldn't have the RE name. Had they been smart about it and changed the name like they did with DMC and Onimusha, it could have been another great franchise, without controversy and without sucking all the oxygen out of the Resident Evil room. Kind of odd when you think about it. All the good games and franchises that started development as RE titles and were given name changes because they were too different, you'd think they would have known exactly what to do.
Good friends are the only thing that make me happy. Good friends with good local co-op or fighting games are a real treat.
I'd actually buy Halo wars 2 if I had an xbone. I can get into a solid RTS game. I wish EA would put out a new C&C game.
This year actually has 2 games I really want to play (Ace Combat 7 & Persona 5). Haven't been this lucky since the PS2 era. If GT Sport turns out good we can officially upgrade this gen to a solid "nearing mediocrity" rating.
MKX is the best one IMO. MK9 was great but the animations weren't quite there yet. UMK3 is great, too. That was the game that made me a gamer.

Persona 5 wasn't delayed because it wouldn't have been ready, it was most likely delayed because there are quite a few high profile releases already set for Feb, and almost no high profile releases in April.
I would kill to have an upresed port of Ace Combat: AH Legacy. Probably THE biggest reason I bought a 3ds but I found it utterly unplayable with the disc stick & handcramp inducing shape of the 3ds.
