I didn't like Infinite much either, before a shot was fired it was amazing but it went downhill after that. Too much action and not enough interesting lore/atmosphere.
I think it's a fair criticism but it's also understandable it's like that in a game of that scale. Could be the case that for his next open world game Miyazaki will dial it back slightly in order to reuse assets less but if not, I'm fine with that.
Compared to most open world games the number of unique or nearly unique enemies and bosses is very high I'd say.
In two minds on this, I think on the whole they should stick with how they currently handle quests. It fits in with the intrinsic mysterious impenetrable nature of the games.
It's certainly less practical in a huge game like ER but using a guide is a viable option and solves the problem.
Awesome. Get a job and stop being a pest. Nobody wants it.
It's a shame that the level of environmental destruction in this series was treated as a novelty and not followed up.
I get that tightly controlling the gamer's experience is desirable but there must be some scope for some games to let people go nuts and for it to still make sense from a design perspective.
"XDefiant is a game that can be interrogated over its utility in the current shooter market and have no good answer. Sure, maybe a pie slice from CoD shows its market utility, but nothing else"
Probably a difficult task to interrogate a game.
"The mechanical foundation operates and most maps are at least decently composed"
Glad to hear the mechanical foundation operates.
I don't know if this ...
It's a shame they tried to copy GTA, they were terrible at it. If they'd doubled down on making the driving the star they could still be going now.
That could work as long as you were one of the boys. Fairly traditional setup with a different supe as boss for each level.
You'd think it was time for a new setting. It can't be that hard to come up with a story set in another city, does the lad never go on holiday? Does all the significant crime in the world happen only in NY?
I they got away with it with the second game but a third game set in NY is really pushing it for me.
Incidentally I love the skeleton, beautiful colours and imagery.
You have no choice other than to crack on and hope for the best.
Konami's lead producer on the series said that Konami are “very sorry the game wasn’t up to standards.”
If that's not an apology I don't know what is.
It's tricky to find the balance between finding things out for yourself and not missing out on loads of good stuff in a game you don't intend to replay any time soon. With Dark Souls I'd do one blind playthrough then go into NG+ using a guide, ER was too big for that method for me.
It'll be treated exactly the same, with indifference apart from a relatively small number of people who like that specific genre.
I thought the sales of GTA5 alone had already confirmed that as fact.
I suspect almost everyone was disappointed when it turned out Concord wasn't a big budget SP shooter. It's odd how the suits don't seem to understand that. Their premium SP games sell great but they've gone all out on multiplayer tripe.
Hopefully there will be an abrupt change in direction following certain flops. By all means attempt a couple of major GaaS a year but keep them as a side project.
I've noticed talking complete nonsense is normal for you but you've outdone yourself here.
Weightless, floaty, without impact and generally unsatisfying.
Also on the hardest difficulty you could literally get one shotted by a dwarf with a wooden club despite max gear so there was a hell of a lot of dodging and rolling, as in almost constantly, which didn't add to the fun.
The point was more to do with getting Atreus out of the way rather than him being saved. Let's say he's off on his own adventures then and invent another reason for Kratos to be in Egypt.
Could be that Kratos thinks he's been captured or killed as motivation but at the close of the game it turns out Atreus has been up to his own shady shenanigans.
The weather effects are very nice as are the improvements to the water. Interested to see what else this update brings, it seems to be focusing on things I like.
