Sounds cool, leaning into a darker world makes sense as the reboot was full of atmosphere and handled the nastier stuff well. I really liked it and more of the same with a layer of improvement could produce a classic in the genre.
Bit silly to pretend the relevant comparison is the profitability of PS+ vs GP. I have no idea if PS+ makes money, never thought about it, unlike Xbox it's only a small part of their business model. PS as a whole is profitable and they've always been open about it if you're keen to do some research.
I notice you didn't mention Apple TV which is losing a billion a year but continues to plough ahead because prestige TV is good for the image of the brand. That's the closest comparison to Xbox, the difference being that Xbox isn't doing its job and is now being pulled up for it.
Netflix has flirted with disaster for years, I'm not sure Amazon TV does make money.
The main evidence we have to go on regarding the sustainability of GP, beca...
It's not sustainable, people can sense that and it makes them not trust it. If you're spending money in any kind of long term scenario trust is important.
They seem to be allergic to using the word profit. Revenue means nothing without the full picture.
It very much looks like a polished up Colin McRae and I used to love those games, I wouldn't want to go back to them though. This might look better than those original games but I'm not fond of that low poly 3D visual style unless it's artistically stylised in some way which this isn't, it's very basic looking.
The gameplay of FH5 is also excellent.
Would Jesus approve of a game where you violently butcher hordes of demons? I'm thinking not but he's always capable of a surprise.
I don't know, I liked PS1 racing games 30 years ago but I'm not sure how well they compare to Forza Horizon 5 with realistic graphics and real cars. Not sure it's an indie genre that works without a unique hook.
Isn't the point that it's irrelevant how profitable MS is, the suits have decided it's time that the Xbox division started making them money. Hence the layoffs, the pivots.
I don't think this will sell well at all. Nothing special in the first place and it has the added problem of being a game that jumped ship to Xbox and is now back at Sony's door with its hand out because it didn't succeed.
Going to sink without a trace.
It's cool they've done that, I was happy with whatever because the games were quality and FP was refreshing but it was a divisive issue.
Giving players the choice and presumably going the extra mile to make sure both options are top class shows a lot of respect for their fans.
I'll give AITD a try, I understand the combat is crap but the rest of the game is decent. That's ok for a horror game imo.
I don't think there's any narrative, if a game looks bad and people say so that's not a narrative. You don't seem too keen on it yourself.
Great to hear. I think their next game, Saros, will be a big hit.
If there's any pedantry here it's making an unnecessary distinction between open world racers and open world kart racers, the vehicle type is irrelevant from a technical standpoint.
Not been interested in Doom since the original on the SNES but I like the look of this one. The heavier, more deliberate gameplay, and the shield, and the dark fantasy/Lovecraft setting have sold me on it.
I thought it was a remake, disappointed to hear it's only a remaster. A new coat of paint on an old game doesn't make it worthwhile for me. Especially when the new paint makes everything look duller and takes away some of the essence of what made the original special.
People think the film industry is derivative and out of ideas these days, and they're right for the most part, imagine how it would be with creativity handed over to AI. Braindead, basically. Same for gaming.
In any creative endeavour like films, gaming, art, it needs nipping in the bud and used appropriately, not being embraced.
Even if it only ends up working on a superficial level, the idea of having three potential villains is interesting and gives you a unique reason to replay it.
