This might well move a lot of consoles, particular if they have deals with cable providers where consumers can opt for an Xbox720. I think MS are banking on the install base being so large that 3rd party developers will support them. With this shift in focus though I feel that Xbox may be going down the Wii's path, a very large install base of people that don't buy games. For this reason developers abandoned the Wii and I worry the same may happen to the Xbox720. Will MS care, probabl...
I think he might be right about smaller install bases next gen. However I don't think this will have a large effect on game sales. Casuals and mid-core may well buy tablets instead of consoles but this segment of the market wouldn't have bought many games anyway.
I would say they are. From my view they used a bait and switch tactic with the 360 and it won't surprise me if they do it again. Focus on the core for the first two years because they're the early adopters then drop them like hotcakes and go for the casuals.
Even though I was a little disappointed with AC3 I don't want them to stop yet. I like the franchise a lot so 12 months is a long enough wait for me. If AC4 also disappoints then I might change my tune.
I'm going to preorder this tomorrow. Loved HR and this looks like it'll top that!
Yeah, she says as much in the preview.
I think your right about MS not competing with Sony over the core gaming market but I don't think it's casuals they're interested in either. With their investment in a TV studio and talk of "interactive television" I think they want to become a set top box which can play games, an entertainment box as opposed to a console. They'll likely have good third party support due to their success this gen but I'm not expecting many exclusives out of them next gen.
I really liked the previous AC games so I'm currently willing to view AC3 as a stumble. Cock up AC4 and that'll be a fall in my mind.
It's hard not to compare the two given the similarities. I'm really enjoying TR, in my mind its a hard game to fault. However, the story in TR hasn't been as engaging as Uncharted's for me, still really good but not quite on the same level. I guess that's the price paid for a more open game. On the other hand I'm really enjoying the light RPG elements and exploitation in TR so it's hard to decide which of the two games I like more. If I had to decide I'd say TR...
Is this just a launch issue and something you'd expect to be fixed soon enough? I was planning on getting this one day, don't think my PC could make the most of it right now.
You should feel very guilty, you are nothing more than a thief.
Here you go http://www.brightsideofnews...
You should really open your mind to new possibilities. I don't know what more you need than confirmation from the head engineer. None-the-less Sony's lie of GDDR5 as system memory may well be the future http://www.brightsideofnews...
Don't worry mate, you'll one day be able to buy these specs from the future http://www.brightsideofnews...
Are you serious? GDDR5 and DDR3 are both RAM! Main difference is that GDDR5 has a much higher bandwidth than DDR3.
I wonder how much of the higher PS3 sales this year are from Xbox owners buying a second consol. I myself expected to get a 360 at some point this generation but just never felt the need to, not enough enticing exclusives.
Well there are currently no 8 core APUs with 8GB of unified GDDR5 RAM on the market so for the time being it is future technology not found in consumer electronics.
EBgames in Australia currently has a placeholder price of $899AU. This is likely a gross overestimate. If it is $400US or £300 I'm hoping it'll cost about $650AU. Even at that price point I'd seriously have to consider importing it given that the AU$ is on parity with the US$, any higher and I'll definitely be importing.
I have to admit during the first couple of years of the PS3 I was worried that the end of my beloved console was on the horizon. It was expensive, the game library was limited and developers were complaining a fair bit about the console. They pulled through however and the last 5 years have been fantastic. I was expecting to get a PS4 even before the announcement but afterwards there was no doubt. Sony are well aware that the Playstation is first and foremost a games console and there focus i...
I hope it's not a real 24 hour clock as I'll rarely see sunlight.
