It is sad I agree but I remember during the first few years of this gen (the first half even) Sony fans were attacked left right and centre on this site. I'd dare say the majority of Sony fans are overly defensive due to this. MS has dropped the ball and now the shoe is on the other foot. Sucks for MS fans but I can't feel sorry for you guys.
I much prefer the inbuilt battery of the dual shock 4. My original controllers (5 years old) are still going strong, no noticeable drop in play time per charge whatsoever nor have I ever heard of people replacing controllers due to a dead battery.
Yes the consols will have similar capabilities. The difference I think we're worried about is that MS with its focus on media will be investing in TV shows (Halo TV show says hello) whereas Sony will invest in what we want, blockbuster exclusive games.
I'm clinging on to MS having a great E3 but I'm not optimistic. 15 exclusives with 8 new IP but they couldn't even show us a quick screenshot montage doesn't bode well.
Apart from a few short stints I haven't ever been interested in online FPS games. I quickly got bored with the fact that the cost of death is nothing more than a short wait to respawn and the rewards are only some XP for character that I have little to no control over.
Dust 514 however has me hooked! Character customisation couldn't get any deeper. It's intimidating at first but once you come to grips with it it's a lot of fun planning how to equip your soldie...
Well said. Only thing I'd add is to advise new players to join a Corporation (like a guild) and play in squads. This game is a team based shooter and playing in squads is when it shines.
I read somewhere that the only thing developers are required to do is provide controller mapping for the Vita.
We are in the same boat.
The complexities are what have me hooked. I've never played a game of Battlefield or COD as they appear like shallow games to me but I love Dust 514.
Given the shift in MS's focus for Xbox I too wasn't totally surprised with the reveal however I didn't expect TV to be virtually the whole show.
I worry that a lot of people will be surprised at E3 by how underwhelming their conference will be. What bothers me is MS stated that they have 15 1st party games (8 new IPs) schedular for release during the first year yet they didn't even tease us with a quick screen shot montage. Is it because they know a montage of...
FPS games don't normally hold my attention for long but the deep character customisation of Dust 514 has me hooked.
I actually bought a Vita because of the announced PS4 remote play. Obviously I haven't used remote play yet but regardless I'm in love with Vita. Such an awesome little console.
I heard on a podcast last week that this problem has been fixed, you can now purchase the full licence to games you previously "purchased" on PS+. Sorry I can't remember which podcast it was, maybe last week's (or the week before's) Playstation Blogcast?
I love reading about this stuff. PS4 will come first for me but I can't wait till I can afford to build my first gaming PC.
I don't hate them, they've published some of my favourite games over the many many years they've been in business.
It's impossible to know how DmC would have sold if they simply released a sequel rather than a reboot. One thing that is certain, and you said it yourself, this game appeals to a niche market. I doubt sales numbers would have been large either way.
I doubt it'll be a revolution but I agree that they need to do something special to derail Sony. We were chatting about next gen at work the other day and all of the people that own Xbox360s are seriously considering going back to Sony (they had PS2s last gen). The biggest draw card is wait for it... GAMES. They've no interest in interactive TV, are envious of PS+ because members actually get something for their money and most importantly, are sick of Halo and Gears. They're aware...
I hope they're not using money which should be for exclusives on this interactive TV stuff.
This will come out on next-gen consoles. They just don't want to limit current-gen sales with such an announcement.
I'm not really into MMO games or FPS but Destiny has me interested.
I won't be surprised if they don't address specs or DRM or used games. This may be a case of "if you don't have something good to say, don't say anything".
