The year's like a Tsunami for games, it's already begun and it doesn't seem like it's going to end for some time now.

Awesome time to be a gamer.

A random conference (like today maybe), GDC next month, E3 in June, Gamescom in August, TGS September and PSX presumably in December like last year.

Overall there are like 5 major events this year.
Very exciting times for gamers indeed. :)

Like today maybe at this New York event happening in just under 5 hours.

Obviously Sony just revealed their Playstation Heroes thing to the media, but still hosting an event to unveil something you've already announced to the work is a bit pointless.

If not today then I would think something could be announced at GDC next month.

Yeah the event is for a new "Playstation Initiative":

http://www.gamepur.com/news...

It takes place in New York, 3PM local time, I'm not sure if the event is being live streamed though.

It could be for anything, but it's going to be almost 2 years since PS4 was announced so it could be ...

I'd love to see a Dreamcast 2, but it would be a costly investment at this point, consoles cost quite a bit to get into.

Although if they did make one Sega could partner up with Steam/Valve and make a console nowadays, make a simple PC in a Sega branded box, make a custom Sega OS, with an API based around GLNext.
Be the only console to use an Intel CPU and NVidia GPU, maybe a scaled back i5 3570K (clocked at 2.5GHz) and something like a GTX 960 clocked at like 1GH...

Seriously if Sega bothered to listen to fans, look at other developers like Ninja Theory and how they're going to try make some of their games in the future, they'd be fine.

Use smaller, quality teams per project.
People want a Shenmue game, put out what you always planned to make, the full 16 episodes of the saga, but instead of spending $70 million to make each episode, put a few million dollars behind each episode and think creatively about how to approach ...

I think a lot of people thought the same, this game actually looks even better than when Sony showed that 1st E3 trailer back in 2013, hell it looks up to par with Capcom's Deep Down reveal trailer, I guess people underestimate what having a GPU with specs inbetween a 7850 & 7870 on die with a low end CPU can accomplish, when backed by quality memory.

More hardware isn't needed to get this level of visuals and RAD even said themselves they're barely scratching...

They need to look at the way Ninja Theory are making Hellblade, their most recent interview with Playstation Access shows how productive they are as a team.

Making assets that can be easily tweaked for multiple uses, but made to look completely different and create varied looking environments quickly and easily, for a fraction of the cost of high budget AAA projects.
Same goes for enemy characters.

Ninja Theory are only using like 13 people to make He...

To be fair the full game probably wouldn't have the amount of users that the PS Plus addition would and all of those gamers all of a sudden using the servers would be a hell of a hit to the load they can handle.

If Evolution had issues with fewer people, then they'll get nothing but problems if they had to deal with double, triple or beyond that level of traffic.

Right now they've finally got the game working well with regular users, it's not ...

Resistance is probably well into development on PS4 by now (2011 was when the last home console release came out), I don't know if you saw it, but the name was trademarked by Sony again fairly recently (like last month).

Cambridge are said to be making a new game, from an existing franchise for PS4, so it could be that, although Killzone has had a release every 2 years since KZ2 came out, so perhaps another studio is handling Resistance.

Sony hasn't g...

Guerrilla's Engine does have physical and forward based rendering tech like R@D's.

Given what GG achieved at PS4's launch and the fact it's been two years since we've seen any new games from either Amsterdam or Cambridge I'd wait and see where the studio has taken their engine.
Until Dawn is using it and that looks gorgeous.

R@D's engine is no doubt a highly capable tool, but GG knows what they're doing, if they want to...

I tweeted Insomniac around PSX and they said back then that the game was still coming this year, from when it was announced at E3 2014 it's meant to be coming out in the 1st half of 2015, although that may have changed a bit.
Until stated otherwise the game is a mid 2015 release.

Insomniac were quite stern in their remarks about showing it off when they're ready.

If Sony's event this Friday has games announcements or new gameplay of previo...

@Outthink_The_Room: Technically Knack and Driveclub were new IPs, they were announced in Feb 2013 and while Driveclub was pushed back, it was initially planned to launch within 2013.

Bloodborne was only announced at last year's E3, that's a new IP and it's coming out 9 months after it's announcement, so Horizon could be officially announced at Sony's Event on Friday, or their GDC presentation.

On Friday Sony are announcing a new Playstatio...

Whatever the next Killzone is, it's likely coming this year, ever since KZ2 there has been a Killzone game released every 2 years.

On PS3 KZ was a Feb release, Shadow Fall came out in November, so it seems likely that whatever the next KZ game is, it will be out November this year.

Personally I hope it's a Mercenary game, for PS4, I think that would be awesome.
Sony could do with an exclusive FPS in their line-up this year.

Me too, Killzone is awesome!
I hope Guerrilla Cambridge are making a KZ Mercenary game for PS4, like Media Molecule are doing Tearaway Unfolded from the vita release.

Whether it's an outright sequel, or a remake, expanded retelling of the vita game, with an evolution from the assets used in Shadow Fall.

Shadow Fall was quality, it's a highly underrated game IMO.

Agreed, I love the unique style, many people that played it said it's a load of fun.

Personally I hope there's some kind of single player, story/adventure mode. Multiplayer is awesome and if that's it's focus and Jaffe's Studio along with San Diego give a tonne of maps and character/content then it's good, but some additional stuff for people that like to play single player would be awesome!

I wouldn't really call 2 games a collection, but Nintendo could definitely roll Galaxy 1 & 2, Sunshine and 64 into a single nostalgia collection.

Now if Nintendo wanted to make a 3rd galaxy game and package 1 & 2 updates alongside that they could call that The Galaxy Collection.

Personally though I'd love to see a big open world Mario game for Wii U. Nintendo should make it cover the Mushroom Kingdom, no hub system, but instead make it so you ...

Sony has more areas than just console gaming.
Playstation is just one of the most obvious and well known areas they focus on.

People often don't realize they are huge in Insurance, Image Sensors, Semi-Conductors, mobiles while negative on paper recently, were more likely a cash positive, they were just over valued in the past, so that had to be balanced.
They also do well in movies and publishing music.

No doubt Playstation as a whole busi...

@MasterCornholio It's not 720p, but The Evil Within is 1920X768, although I think that was a poorly coded mess of a game.

Anyway 720p 30FPS locked is fine.
Considering that Xeno Blade has huge environments it would benefit from a higher resolution, but if that effects performance at 30FPS then there's no point.

I do think Nintendo should have packed a 28 nanometer GPU, at the wattage Wii U has, they could have included about 40% better perform...
