Actually, this generation's fanboyism (which is unlike any before seen) is directly due to one thing:
Microsoft. When the PS3 launched and performed at a level less than Jesus, 360 fanboys and a great deal of the Western media mocked Sony and its supporters. It didn't help that Microsoft PR reps also joined in on the fun. Every review for a PS3 game below 90 was "not AAA. Fail!" Every game delay, no matter how small, was "delaystation!". Blu-Ray wa...
@ Spartan
Oh maths. With roughly 13 millon Gold subscribers worldwide and at $60 a year, 1 billion bucks a year is a bit exaggerative.
Dog, you're right. Haters (read: Western gaming journalists) gonna hate.
Now, GT5 is far too hardcore of a racing sim for me (I'm not too good at racers) but it is shaping up to be a fantastic game for die-hard racing fans!
I played the demo and it was hella boring. They should be embracing any comparisons to Last Guardian.
AWESOME! So many great games to get on my PS3 in the next few months: LBP2, Dead Space 2, Dead Nation, Portal 2, Mass Effect 2, Marvel vs Capcom 3...what else am I missing?
Pachter also said "Wii HD at the end of 2009", among dozens of other lulzy statements.
CoD will always be full of hackers/glitchers/cheaters as long as:
1. the average player age continues to be 15
2. Activision continues to allow any and all glitches into the retail release as long as the game makes deadline
The fact that this is even being suggested shows how poorly the XBOX division is doing.
It's a shame that if/when Microsoft reaches this goal, certain gamers will brag and celebrate and claim victory, despite not having a single core Kinect game on the market. Do people even care about gaming anymore, or I guess it becomes all about "teh salez" when your list of upcoming core games is nearly empty.
Snaaaaaaaaake!
I think in regards to younger people (age 15 or less) the behavior the author mentions is true. I was like a "gaming zombie" in early middle and highschool, but I suppose as I and my friends grew up we sorta grew out of that lifestyle.
For long-time gamers who want somethink new: CoD ran outta gas a while ago.
For not so seasoned gamers (who also rush out to purchase any blood-soaked game on the market), it won't become boring for another 5 years when they finally open their eyes and stop being gaming toddlers.
Note that this is a UK site....meaning they are likely speaking on behalf of that region.
Although I apologise if you happened to be in the UK.
You must be new to this whole "Microsoft disses on a product" thing. They have a loooooong and established history of badmouthing all of their competition and only praising things when it is integrated (or copied) into their own product.
Black Ops is a heap of disappointment and it's sad that with so few other shooters on the market (or rather, few other shooters that are advertised as much as CoD) many mindless FPS-zombies will continue to flock to the CoD franchise. It is officially the Madden of the FPS genre. The 5/5 score is simply dead wrong.
Bungie should be tasked in reviving the Tribes series, considering how Halo got virtually all of its features and ideas from Tribes anyway.
Then the circle would be complete.
I am not saying NFS will be bad.
However (bookmark this statement), a lot of gamers and media outlets will over-praise NFS so that the 360 can have its "GT5 killer" this fall, even though PS3 will have both games.
The media has a track-record of doing this already: Bayonetta is a GoW killer. 360 wins! (even though PS3 has both games), Prototype is an inFamous killer. 360 wins (even though PS3 has both games), etc.
Read the article. They says Peter has ALREADY made a game in Ico's league because beefjack rated Fable 3 95/100. Durrrr. Avoid site now.
Or he could make "Fable - Delivers on Peter's Promises". So far, every Fable game has had a massive gap between the promises (they're not just "ideas" but he makes promises still being spouted weeks before release or even at game launch) and the actual retail product.
Anyone trusting IGN's reviews at this point should be banished.
I loved many XBOX gems like Otogi 1 and 2, Stranger's Wrath, JSRF, and Phantom Dust.
