Competition breeds excellence. That is true, but I'm tired of people using that phrase in the gaming industry and assuming more console makers = more competition = more excellence. Is Microsoft REALLY competing? When they see PSN's free features approaching XBox Live, do they lower the price or add major features? If you're a gamer, wouldn't you like your hobby accurately represented? Spike is a horrible channel in general, but their VGAs are especially bad. They ignore PC and handhelds (little to no mention Peace Walker, Starcraft 2, Super Scribblenauts, etc), they are focused on popularity instead of quality (hence the Black Ops nomination for everything)...
Gamers should complain.
In all honesty, they just need some PC-only titles and a way to play free/indie/browser games. For $100, I'd pick it up.

Or they'll stuff the channels like they did with the 360 console, claim their 5 million "sold", and then the obscene excess of Kinect bundles will languish on store shelves for 8 months
People forget that both Sony and Nintendo were approached by Kinect's designers, and both said "no". The 360 was Kinect's third choice.

Eh, there's favoritism for both the PS3 or 360. It just depends on the game. What about the free, PS3-exclusive content for AC Brotherhood? All timed exclusive DLC is stupid and "unfair", but if you like the game and you have the console w/ the exclusive DLC, you might as well get it.
Didn't Sony post official sales that were well over the 1.2 million mark like...a month ago? Didn't Move sell 1.4million in Europe alone like...a month ag?

At least it's optional. XBL Gold members had to pay money to play games online like AC Brotherhood, Black Ops, etc whereas other consoles- not even the Wii - didn't pay a dime. How's that for scheme?
It's hard to take you seriously when you make statements like "PS3's flaws were so obvious, there was NO reason to get one before the Slim".
LBP, Uncharted, the Sony brand name, Blu Ray, Resistance, MGS4, and free online are just a few reasons why some consumers picked the PS3 instead of "the better gaming experience on other consoles" as you put in such a non-fanboyish manner.
