You're right it's very difficult to have discussions without someone feeling insulted over another's opinion..
I'm guilty myself of being drawn into those types of arguments. Its difficult to separate emotions from something we've invested soo much time, money, and effort into.. We don't like seeing our preferred product or company badmouthed and it's far to easy to react from an emotional mindset rather rational and respectful..
Personally I think it all derives from our competitive nature and how companies and the media use this natural competition to elicit emotional reactions out of the fans.. Look at how many articles that come out everyday saying why company A's product is so much better than company B's..
Wont stop as long as there is a buck to be made unfortunately..
I like how you seem to know more than the people that actually created the character... SMH
@ThichQuangDuck If the article focused on the narrative aspect and didn't have a flame title like
"The Walking Dead Does Zombies and Narrative Better Than The Last of Us"
then maybe there wouldn't be as much outcry.. A title like
"The Walking Dead and the Last of Us: We discuss the narrative strengths of both"
Instead this articles title blatantly states that one is better than the other and try&...
*sigh*
Again Zombies= virus reanimating a body reducing the host into a primal mindstate who's only motivation is to eat.
Clickers/runners= Fungal spores controlling a host that's is very much alive in an effort to propogate..
Not the same..
As I stated above they are not the same.. A zombie comes from a VIRUS reanimating a dead body the infected in the TLOU is a result of a FUNGUS spore controlling a host that is not dead.. If the body dies the fungus leaves the host via airborne spores..
@ThichQuangDuck Zombies are derived from a virus that reanimates a dead body in order to propogate. In the Last of Us the source of the infection is a Fungus Spore that adheres itself to the brain stem and takes over the host without killing it. NOT A ZOMBIE.
Just because your opinion of it isn't as high as a majority of the gaming populace out there doesn't mean we need silly articles like this that are rife with opinion and conjecture..
"but financially Microsoft's strategy is much more profitable."
Feel free to prove me wrong but how can you be so certain about that? When you own a studio you keep most of the profits and pay a royalty to the developer.. Considering a lot of Sony's exclusives sell well I would think Sony does better off of owning studios than they do partnering..
But I think what donman is getting at is this is a common practice and most of us now how this works, so why do we need an article about it? This isn't news, just business as usual..
Nintendo lost me a long time ago.. Last Nintendo system I ever purchased was the 64. Don't have plans of buying the WiiU, however I do want to try ZombieU and the new Mario kart looks pretty good..
"Sony pretty much left the doors wide open and are content with making a better 360. It's not a flawed plan, but it is very conservative"
Again Sony built the PS4 according to what developers requested.. They easily could have kept the Cell they spent 500 million developing and implemented more ram, but they let the developers determine what they put in the console.. To say they were conservative in their approach is false..
Stop pushing your biased opinion as fact.. A lot of people like myself that have twitch shooter fatigue love the gritty and weighty gameplay of the Killzone franchise.. Don't like it? Fine, but get off it already..
So because killzone isn't a twitch style shooter means it's not good? I'm sorry but Killzone is a fantastic shooter franchise and holds its own against the twitch shooter onslaught of COD and the others.. I love the gritty, weighty feel of killzone games. Just because you can't appreciate the design decisions of the killzone franchise doesn't negate it's overall quality..
Ubisoft is bringing the heat. Both Assassins Creed IV and the Division look outstanding... Then there's Metal Gear solid 5.
(part 2 of my response)
I want to bring up Gakai. We already know that Gakai will allow us to stream PS1, PS2, and PS3 games essentially giving us backwards compatibility. Xbox One has no backwards compatibility at all. We also don't know the extent of what Gakai can do and how Sony is planning on expanding it.. So I wont speculate further on that.
Your entire opinion piece is riddled with misinformation and conjecture. Understand that I am not trying to...
Well since nobody is rebutting your stance let me try.
First up is specs.. Yes both consoles are similar but there is some important differences like the RAM. Sony is utilizing GDDR5 which is optimized for graphics heavy computations. Microsoft went with DDR3 which is a strong all purpose type of memory. Sony took that GDDR5 architecture and modified it so that the GPU can perform non graphics related tasks thereby eliminating the slightly higher latency of GDDR5. This gives ...
There's a reason you only have 2 bubbles.. Nearly everything you listed as a positive for the WiiU the Ps4 does, some it does better.
I've never heard of anyone complain about Headsets on consoles as being "call center headsets" For starters you don't have to use a wired headset on either the PS3 or PS4. Both systems have Bluetooth, in fact the Sony Pulse Elite headset is by far the best headset I've ever used and it has FULL 7.1 surround sound suppo...
@grownupgamer Your video proves nothing.. However this video shows a professional driver in a real car and places it along side a video of a professional doing a lap on the same track(Nurburgring)in the exact same car and the two video's are almost perfectly matched.. That game was Gran Turismo 5..
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
@Jokes Exactly, but in the case of the Vita Sony has only been utilizing secondary teams to make their Vita exclusives..
For example Uncharted: Golden Abyss is a great game but it wasn't made by the primary Uncharted team rather a little satellite team.
I want to see what Sony's big boys can do with the Vita. So far the Vita is an example of wasted potential.. I love my Vita but so far there hasn't been a proper AAA game that the system is capable ...
Ok that's a big "what if" scenario.. Sony has been in this business for 3 generations now and quite a few of their studios like Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, and Polyphony have had some mega hits.. For example Gran Turismo 5 alone has sold 11 million units.. Like I stated before most Sony first party exclusives sell well above profitable levels.
There is no proof that having more first party titles discourages third party development.. In fact the PS3 has proven t...
