I wont be waiting, I'll be pre ordering but at the same time, I realise there are people out there who cant afford to just yet.
Just because you don't want to give them any consideration, thank god Sony does. It's good business ethics and refreshing to see.
As Nate Cole said above, they will sell the PS 3 for years to come in developing countries
@nirwanda - Your argument would hold more water if it were true but its not. Sony have managed to release far more exclusive top quality games supporting 3 platforms as it is just now (I never counted PS 2, dunno if they still knock out games for that). It will be 4 when the PS 4 releases.
MS have 1 console they support, and by the looks of it, all that support will be shifting to their new console forcing you to upgrade and keeping their focus on only one console. Again, we&...
With attitudes like that, you could work for MS one day.
What about showing some loyalty to the fans who have invested so much in their last console.
Here's a crazy thought. What about supporting both of them at the same time and waiting for consumers to choose to upgrade rather than forcing them to by stopping any new games for the old console.
@Itachi - Sony never released too late, they were just undone a little by MS releasing theirs too early. Slight difference, and while it cost MS money with the RROD issues, they probably gained more than they lost.
You're right about their arrogance coming into the PS3 generation, and it looks like they have learned from some past mistakes.
@Gametime - I swore I wasn't going to buy a PS3 at launch, but I did and have never been disappointed with the c...
@DarthV - Exactly, you've just proved my point about being forced to upgrade.
My point on supporting the platforms even though you have a newer model out was related to software, not that they keep manufacturing the hardware.
What about Halo 3. Was that made available for both, or did they forget about the people who had bought the original console.
Whilst you make a good argument for having backwards compatibility (and nobody's argui...
@whoyouwit04 - Depends on the model, if you have the 3G version and a decent data plan then anywhere you can get a signal.
I have the Wi Fi only version so I need to be in range of a Wi Fi connection, so no, your not restricted to just your own home.
And hopefully a Motorstorm
@DarthV - Correct me if i'm wrong, but £1 of profit on a PS2 is the exact same value as £1 of profit on the PS3.
Whilst you argue that it demonstrates focus on the new product, why are you advocating a company forcing you to upgrade.
Sony continue to support those that buy their consoles until they are ready to make the choice to upgrade. If you cant see the difference then you are a blind consumer
I think I will be buying both versions, all they are confirming is that GT will show up on PS4 at some point. Knowing how much of a perfectionist the guy is, and with the release of Drive Club I honestly think it will be more than a year after the PS4 release.
Look at the hype that's out for the PS4 already with the games announced so far. Sony doesn't need to add to that for the first year.
I'll also be buying GT for the Vita, I cant believe th...
Go look at the highest grossing films over the last ten years or the best selling music singles and you will see similar patterns though, its not just the games industry.
Its a reflection on society in general now.
Which I would agree with if I was a shareholder and looking at my dividends for the year.
But seeing as we are all supposed to be gamers, be glad that you have played Bioshock, Uncharted series etc. Playing with numbers is rubbish
Skate was another great series I liked this gen.
@ramiuk - When GT first released on the PS3, the game model they had was to give you the game engine free and sell you the parts to make up your own game.
When the free GT download first arrived (one track, Eiger Norwand if I remember correctly) there was an article in OPM where they talked about selling the tracks and cars in this way.
I'd agree with both Larry L though, not many companies got DLC right this gen. PD is definitely one of them
@Dwope - especially as it was a feature on the PSP, they were pushing digital comics a lot on that.
My main issue isn't with the games either, its the media player, especially for music. I'd really love them to come out with an inline remote control for selecting music. The PSP had a functional one, its a shame it was missed for the Vita.
Great system though, just completed Uncharted and laughing along with Thomas in Thomas was alone right now
Sanquine, you offered your opinion up and people disagreed with your opinion. Nobody voted you down for it, only disagreed.
If that's a bit too much to deal with, don't offer your opinion up in the first place.
A very good read, all I can hope for now is a UK launch this year and be under £400.
I still don't feel the £425 I paid on launch day for my PS3 was over the top for what I was getting, though obviously some felt it was too high a price or just couldn't afford it
Heres the original source for this, sorry if it doesn't paste in as a proper link http://www.gamasutra.com/vi...
As pointed out by despair and mouktouk, the developer comments are about 90% positive with this slight reservation/warning about changing peoples perceptions of games in general was the last 5%.
Very good read though (the original articl...
@14Feb - And how much would you be willing to increase your subscription for to get this choice? You can always subscribe to Lovefilm or other services if you want choice with your service.
But PS+ has given me so many games that I may not have tried out or bought otherwise. I think the service is great as it is
Thanks for the info on the original source material despair, though a link would have been handy :p
As wolokowoh said above, this only affects those middle of the road kinda games you have doubts about buying or had no plans to buy.
Half of the full priced games given away for free I've already bought and I still feel like I get great value for money from PS+
If you live in the EU you maybe can still have a 2 year warranty though I accept it would be better if the consoles were just issued with one. Look it up on line, it is only an EU directive.
Even better would be if all console makers realised its better to keep consumers happy and make sure they have working consoles. That way they can continue to buy games and use services which make them money.
No, its actually a great time to reveal the console, but at the same time, fantastic that they are still giving AAA exclusives coming to both platforms.
Yeah its a bummer for having to budget a bit, but you have lots of time to save up. This is one of those choices that I don't see as a problem, you're just making it one.
It would be far worse being an X-Box owner. You know your going to be forced to upgrade if you want to keep playing new exclusive ...
