One of the few examples on PS3 and 360 of genuinely clever art direction despite what appears to be a rather unimpressive engine. Great use of sound to set the mood.
Too bad about the voice work.
embarrasingly bad. It simply switches meshes and textures. Distinctly last-gen.
Gives something for the retailers so they can sell games but a big plus for developers because it makes used game sales a thing of the past.
You're absolutely right. No one is born knowing right from wrong. That's something that, ideally, one learns as a child.
The real question is why does America produce violent criminals at a higher rate than France, Germany, UK, and Japan combined?
Propaganda? Hardly. Are you afraid to answer those two simple questions? Opinions are meaningless unless you've thought about the consequences.
If you've really thought through all the pros and cons of capital punishment and honestly believe that it's the best policy choice for dealing with all people who would be convicted of crimes that, under current law, qualify for the death penalty then you should have no problem answering the two questions I asked earlier.
...
who were wrongly convicted of crimes they didn't commit.
There's no way to have death penalty and not kill wrongly convicted innocent people. The only way to prevent this is to get rid of the death penalty.
To me, even killing even one innocent person is murder.
1) What to you is an acceptable ratio of Innocent:Guilty for executions ... 1:10, 1:100, 1:1000?
2) Should the judge, jury, and prosecution at the trials of those who are wrongfull...
are an advanced version of GTR2 by SimBin.
If you like SimBin's GTR2, you'll love Shift.
Forza 2 had a mediocre physics system but I'll have to give Forza 3's retail copy a spin before I make a judgement.
hasn't worked and never will work. The numbers back me up on this 100%. It doesn't even save money (as if that should ever play a role in determing someone's life).
Capital punishment actually results in our taxes being used to kill innocent people by the government.
When an innocent man is executed for a murder he didn't commit, should we then prosecute the judge, jury, and prosecution for homicide?
How many innocent people are you willing to kill to ...
TV is dominated by MTV, Disney channel, etc but the much of the real America is more like the show Cops or America's Most Wanted. Luckily, it's easy to avoid those areas if you have a job and can afford to live in a better town.
America's murder rate is higher than France, UK, Germany and Japan combined!
it's just to help people new to the game (that was his theme throughout the interview) learn to drive properly.
However, I hope it goes further than that and makes the sim mode a more accurate representation of real life.
Despite what those so-called "sim" fans tell you difficult does not mean realistic.
Driving a real Corvette or WRX at pace through narrow street tracks is a heck of a lot easier than in any so-called "sim" I've drive...
Is it really a such a boring game?
and, as a software developer, he likes sticking it to the retailers.
look noticably better than Forza 3. Shift has much better lighting, is pushing a bit more geometry, has much better textures, and far more post-processing effects, and the differences are even more marked in the c*ckpit view.
However, it's important to keep in mind that Forza 3 is running at a true 60fps while Shift is only running 30fps. Performance is measured by how much is accomplished in a given amount of time, like polygons per second, megabits per second, frames per seco...
Shift's visuals are on a much higher plane than either. It's obvious.
Then again, it's rendering half as many frames per second which means that it should be able to render twice as much detail in each frame.
However, it isn't pushing twice the detail of Forza 3. This means that, despite looking worse than Shift, Forza 3 wins from a technical standpoint by running at twice the frame-rate while having more than half the detail.
Nothing else is close at the moment. Perhaps Killzone 3 will give it a run for it's money.
Indeed, until Uncharted 2 came out, Killzone 2 was the only game to exceed the technical acheivements of the original Uncharted. Nothing else is remotely close.
When you buy an extended warranty (replacement plan) from Best Buy (or any electronics retailer) and turn-in your broken console for a new one it technically counts as a sale.
A less reliable product will not only have a higher extended warranty attach rate (much easier to convince customers) but also have artificially inflated retail sales totals.
and under-delivering.
When will they learn?
is pretty incredible, not just in terms of polygons, but also dynamic lighting, shaders, textures, shadows, animation, draw-distance, post-processing effects, etc...
They claim that the engine can be used for other types of games. It would be interesting to see what it can do say, as an FPS, racing game, or even a flight sim. Maybe we'll get to see when they release Jak and Daxter for PS3.
360's disc format is outdated, unlike the PS2, which had a next-gen disc format.
360 has the worst reliability record of any console ever made. RROD, scratched discs, hard-drive failures, etc...
360 has more hidden costs than an unemployed drug abusing brother-in-law in the spare room! Annual $50 payment just to play online, ridiculously over-priced hard-drives, ridiculously over-priced wifi, etc... It's a nickel-and-dime hell.
etc...
Microsoft has every right to control the hardware used on it's platform. Hacking and pirating is not a good thing.
However, Microsoft basically created this problem by charging an absurd amount for it's required peripherals. Many 360 owners (and their parents) are basically blindsided by this huge hidden cost.
It's not a coincidence that Forza 3 requires a hard-drive to work properly. For example, the second disc is practically unusable unless you have a hard-driv...
