The actual internal hardware components are well known (diagrams and specs have been shown) and these add up to between $5-15 bucks.

It has the same off-the-shelf components found in your standard low-grade webcam.

It's not even HD.

Fake information is typical Microsoft marketing tactics.

360 fanboys always jump from one failed flagship.

Most recently it was Alan Wake. Before that it was Forza 3. Now it's Rage.

How many will it take before the harsh reality sinks in that the 360 is simply a less powerful machine?

After 5 years on the market, the 360 still doesn't have a game that matches the detail and fidelity of Uncharted 1.

In addition to that, it's HDMI is outdated and not compatible with the m...

It's true that Move is far too costly as a standalone accessory or controller alternative. Costly accessories that aren't a prerequisite to proper functioning (such as 360's HDD, Wifi, etc) are very difficult to sell.

However, Move can succeed at the list price if there's strong demand for a game dependent on it.

For example, Guitar Hero the game has resulted in an astonishing amount of highly profitable accessory sales.

The 360 still doesnt have any games that match the detail and fidelity of Uncharted 1.

Inferior processing power aside, the inferior HDMI issue remains as well.

Is 3D possible on a 360? It's technically possible on any console including the Wii. Being able to do 3D and matching the PS3's visual quality are two different things.

edit:
BTW, the title is terribly misleading. He said the 360 could do 3D, not that it could &quo...

I'm not kidding and it's easy to verify. There's no demand for Kinect, an unknown product which was announced (not even released) a few days ago, at brick-and-mortar stores (where vast majority of retail sales occur) yet it's magically "selling" (pre-orders) in massive quantities online.

Any one who's been in the field can tell you that this is classic market manipulation. It's like buying your own stock to make the price go up. Oh wait, M...

stop being over-hyped and Microsoft stops over-promising and under-delivering.

The context for interpreting the information is this: The single largest portions of the human brain dedicated to sense and control of the human body are concentrated around the hands.

Yet Kinect does not detect fingers. It doesn't even detect the wrist movement. Nor does it provide any tactile feedback to the hands. The Wii, on the other hand, recognizes finger control and...

The world doesn't even know Kinect exists. Kinect was announced, literally, a few days ago, with little fanfare outside of the dork circle. The dork circle doesn't like motion control. Microsoft is buying up the online preorders themselves.

That's why the actual physical locations of Gamespot, Walmart, Target and Best Buy don't have thousands of people calling up asking to preorder Kinect.

and the texture resolution is run-of-the-mill for current gen games.

What's more, there's no evidence of the kind of fancy shader work that current gen games are required to have. It's all rather flat and cartoony. Almost like cell-shading.

Is it the low polygon character models?

The way the textures look like crap up close?

The lack of dynamic lighting and specularity?

The cheap baked lighting and shadows on everything?

The cheap tricks such as pipes on the ceiling that are just drawn in textures like they did in the early PS2 era?

The cheap dark outlines around rocks and stones to compensate for the lack of actual detail?

The ...

At least 1.5 inches on either side. If it's overheating it's probably a manufacturing or part failure.

Of course, it doesn't change the fact that a console dependent entirely on side vents is a stupid idea in general. Consoles are always stacked between things.

edit:

Looked at it again and there's atleast 2 inches on the left. As a home theater component, a console should be able to operate with 0.5 inches of separation.

It's simply not very good at what it wants to do and the faked videos will only continue to draw scorn.

Microsoft's biggest failure at E3 was not announcing a $199 Kinect/Arcade SKU.

That would have been a big win for them and wouldn't break the bank. Instant Wii competitor that the whole family can enjoy yet gives the dorky one something to do.

Instead, they're peddling it as a stand-alone accessory and no one really cares. ...

I'd agree that Bioshock's artistic direction is absolutely top notch. It has more style and atmosphere than any 10 recent hollywood blockbusters combined.

But in terms of technology (polygons, lighting, shadows, textures, etc,) it's not particularly impressive and isn't even pushing Uncharted 1, let alone the monsters that followed.

Add GG to the list of verified devil worshippers.

There's no other explanation for these visuals on the equivalent of an Nvidia GeForce 7900GT (with minor upgrades).

in handhelds because a handheld device, due to the fact that it only needs to be viewable from a narrow range of angles, is compatible with glasses free 3D technologies. It's simply a very natural fit for 3D.

However, because a TV needs to be viewed from a wide range of angles, the only way to implement 3D is by using glasses. This requirement makes it incompatible with all non glasses types of 3D that are currently available.

Nevertheless, it's pos...

and it still looks like a launch game.

Disappointing that they're cutting corners on development yet charging full price for the game. Looks like a bunch of DLC/mods masquerading as a new game.

First impressions tend to stick. Releasing the service in this poor state will only give it a bad reputation.

To succeed they have to partner with ISPs and negotiate for hosting with the ISP in order to have direct access to customer lines.

This will mean less profits in the short run but a better and much more successful business in the long run.

ISPs have much to gain from partnering with this kind of service as well.

by a large margin, the best looking racing game on the planet. Amazingly it ran at 60fps while rendering superior visuals at 50% higher resolution than any competitor.

That they've been able to noticeably improve the visuals beyond Prologue proves beyond any doubt that Polyphony Digital are a bunch of devil worshipers who've sold their souls in exchange for supernatural coding skills.
