MS have probably realised that backtracking on their DRM policies won't help sales that much and if the console is going to sell poorly it may as well do so with the policies they want in place, so now they're trying to make it look like there is a demand for the policies to be re-implemented.
I doubt gamers are stupid enough to want all those anti-consumer policies.

PS4 & Xbone used different methods to achieve high memory bandwidth, PS4 used GDDR5 and Xbone ESRAM & slower DDR3, Sony fitted a bigger GPU while Microsoft couldn't due to the space the ESRAM took up.

ESRAM was not chosen for any advantage because it has none, it was chosen because Microsoft wanted 8GB and felt that GDDR5 wouldn't be available in enough capacity, so they went with the slower DDR3 and boosted the bandwidth with the ESRAM which is has added complications when it comes to game development. As a result of choosing DDR3 and needing ESRAM on the GPU die they have compounded problems by limiting themselves to a smaller/less powerful GPU than PS4.

It will still perform better than a 580GTX and even IF it is CPU bottlenecked then you will effectively be able to add extra graphics/resolution or other effects for free. Sony themselves have said that PS4 is very balanced, they wouldn't have fit a more expensive GPU if it had zero benefit.
