What they neglect to mention is that they have had to fit a considerably less powerful GPU to make room for the ESRAM, PS4 might consume more power but it is more powerful and has no external power brick.

I see you have already updated it, much better. :)

edit: Actually the Compute Units should be in the GPU column. ;)

Well PS4 has 50% more GPU power and unified memory (no ESRAM) so it should handle 1080P much better, I assume most people own 1080P TV's by now.

I like how the article gives detailed information about everything but just says "AMD Radeon" for Xbone/PS4 to make it look as though Xbone doesn't have a much weaker GPU than PS4.

Why don't you just buy a movie if you want 2hrs worth of movie like entertainment? let the rest of get our monies worth from our games.

Games are supposed to be mentally stimulating not running from cutscene to cutscene with a few fire fights inbetween. Even simple classics like Pacman, Space Invaders etc provided months of entertainment, why should we expect less from AAA developers?

The GPU will have a 'reference' clockspeed recommended by AMD who make it.

There was a story a few months ago that MS had stress tested Xbone for months in different environments to ensure reliability, it's kind of risky to mess about with clock speeds now isn't it?

That was down to multiplatform developer laziness, the primary PS3 developers like ND created games which looked better than anything 360 had to offer.

What happened to "specs don't matter it's the games"?? obviously Microsoft feel that specs do matter if they're overclocking.

4521d ago 6 agree4 disagreeView comment

CPU usage is largely irrelevant, I'd still expect overclocked Intel's to pump out more frames when GPU bottlenecks aren't an issue.

4522d ago 5 agree1 disagreeView comment

Both consoles are paying for having a cheapo junk CPU, Xbone has it doubly bad due to its cheapo junk GPU.

4523d ago 1 agree4 disagreeView comment

It's not a driver problem does anyone really think they will have half baked drivers at this late stage? this is just a cover story for an underpowered (relative to PS4) GPU.

4525d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

This is what happens when you go with cheaper DDR3 that requires ESRAM to boost it and then only have room for a mid range GPU. The PS3 GPU is 50% more capable so it's going to be able to handle TRUE 1080P much better than Xbone.

A lot of Xbone games will be upscaled, Forza is probably the exception not the norm.

It's not all about games, price is a huge factor and helped the Xbox 360 compete with PS3 immensely. This generation Microsoft will be at a disadvantage on both price/performance fronts.

Rule Britannia!

Anyone who has done any research into what GPU Microsoft/Sony have purchased from AMD have known this for months. The PS4 GPU is much higher specced whereas Microsoft have wasted die space needing ESRAM to compensate for their choice of using shitty DDR3.

These votes are like the FHM top babes where everyone just votes for whichever attention seeking whore has hogged the limelight in a given year. For me PS1 was revolutionary and should be top of the list by a country mile but I'm guessing a lot of those who voted are kids who grew up later.

If you look above the 8GB of DDR3 it says 60GB/s peak or something like that, the 109GB/s min. - 204GB/s peak is for the 32MB ESRAM.

Try to think up a better name, "Gentlemen!" sounds like some seedy Japanese porn game.. first impressions count.

They both feature primarily off the shelf PC hardware, apart from a few customizations such as the memory bandwidth improvements they both feature an embarrassingly low end CPU and mid range GPU's by PC standards.

How much are Microsoft being paid to push Kinect into peoples homes?
