His studio (fully) died during the roll-out of Radical Heights.. a battle royale title. He’s not dissing the genre. It’s a hard space to make money in, and not something for a tiny studio to attempt. Eg he’s learnt from it.
Things change, get broken, or are scaled back for so many reasons during development. Frustrating that so many people to call this lying when everything during development is trying to hit moving targets.
I’d rather have overpromising devs (particularly if they’ll put the work in after launch to surpass their promises.) than ones who don’t communicate at all, which is exactly what we get with the shitty attitude people are displaying here.

It should only take a few hours to have a character up to a decent spec where only extreme planets/situations are a problem. Remember to dig holes/hide in buildings etc to shelter from weather ?
Also make use of punch/jump (NMS’s fast travel)

There are certain things that fit that analysis but really? It’s a much bigger game now than anyone thought it would be before launch save for the absolute crazies who’d woven Their own bizarre version of the game in their heads.
When you know the loops the grinding becomes much less of a hassle. You can be really efficient if you want to be.
Also the main gathering/farming/etc loop is enjoyable to a lot of players. Repetitiveness isn’t a problem when people are into it.
I’m so glad RB4 is still getting something.. anything.
I’d love another major dlc, preferably with more character creation stuff as that was massively scaled back from RB3. :/

None of the games in this list have bad graphics.
You don’t know what bad graphics are, and likely not what “art” is either.
Graphics are there to communicate a point. Sometimes that point is communicated better with simpler or more abstract graphic styles.
Limbo and Thomas was Alone have *incredible* graphics. How would you improve them?
Lots of non indie games have more low key or stylised graphic styles too.
Infinitely replayable. Changes often enough that if you take a break and come back there are new interesting things to mess about with. Family friendly..
Not many games like it.
Knowing you’ll statistically never win the lottery doesn’t stop people from playing it. Decreased odds may well perversely make problem gamblers more inclined to buy loot boxes. No easy fix for this really. 😕

You also have a hugely elevated (gun) suicide rate. The guns + the mental health = the problem. Guns make everything too easy in the moment.
You don’t need guns to prepare for your fantasy apocalypse. There are almost infinite possible prepper scenarios you still won’t be ready for. The individual does not need to be prepared for the downfall of society or protect themselves from evil governments.

You don’t have to be mentally ill, you can be indoctrinated and desensitised, and mentally pretty damn okay. Many atrocities end up happening because another group has been lessened and othered to the extent that the offender believes they’re doing the right thing.
Controlling what information people have access to and what communities they can form is usually crowed about as an infringement of personal freedoms (speech etc)..
