That’s like saying Tekken is better than Chess.. I mean, you might prefer it but they’re nothing alike. It’s not surprising fans of FF7 would prefer the FF7 remake to be like FF7.
Though I agree they should also review it when it’s finished...
It’s not like it’s going to get any worse before full launch. The amount of user created content will probably be 10x what it is now. 😂 So, I think it’s deserved if this is really the score they want to give it.
"Reviews don't matter" only applies if you think reviews are supposed to a) objectively dictate how good something is, and b) how many sales it will get. (argh)
In a's case that's.. Partially true. But not fully. Trash horror fan here, many of the films I love are critically not great. Some of them are commercial flops. Some reviewers love them, just as many, if not more - dislike them. Does that mean reviews don't matter? No, it just means people ...
N4G does not do empathy or nuance. Best case scenario they’ll learn to at some point.

We wouldn’t be out of monsters in games. It’s totally ok to critique our favourite medium. It’s ok to like something that has elements that might be problematic. It’s up to the devs to weigh the feelings of people against each other and decide what they want to go with, as always. Things will carry on as they always have.

(I certainly don’t..) and it seemingly means nothing to the people throwing it around either, it’s just a nonsense term, used mostly by kids who then complain about identity politics despite being the ones filing everyone into politically marked boxes based on their criticism of.. games?
Yes but there’s a difference between disagreeing with a point and attacking the person making the point? It’s totally unnecessary, and shows either a lack of maturity or normal levels of empathy.
That’s kind of a reviewers job. I’d rather they finish it despite not enjoying it than bailing 25% in and giving it a review that doesn’t take the rest of the game into account.
I feel like they need to just blacklist the word SJW at this point as apparently it means “someone we disagree with”
Seriously, where is anything even remotely SJW in this review? Calling something bad writing doesn’t make you an SJW, and the rest is talking about how they found it clunky and boring.
Disclaimer: I like the damn game, I wouldn’t have given it such a low score. That’s irrelevant though.

This is kind of a shame and I empathise. It’s good having people being honest about what bums them out. 🤷🏻♀️ I like the designs though, they’re very Argento creepy.. Shame it’s hard to do body horror stuff without it also looking like conditions that actually exist. They obviously weighed everything up and went with the design anyway.. The writer recognises it’s their call, it’s just an unpleasant one from his POV. Fair dos. Don’t need to be touchy about it.
Considering the ps5 is backwards compatible they could probably just patch it to look a bit nicer. No need for a full remaster. :)
@rainslacker I never said anything about celebrities.. there’s a a middle ground. I’ve had many favourite reviewers over the years, their tastes and style of writing has meshed well with mine. I’ve had other favourites who’s taste was nothing like mine but I’ve enjoyed their writing style. 🤷🏻♀️

The job of a reviewer is to review it from their perspective. That is how critics work in every other bloody industry why are gamers such babies that they can’t handle opinions that don’t match the party line.
Otherwise there is NO POINT in reviews, just signal boosting. There is no objective reality score that is accurate.
Eg: IGN had a lot of good to say about DG but also a lot of bad. 6.5 is a decent score in a sane world.

I’m really glad it’s doing well. Hopefully they’ll get to do a sequel and build on what they’ve introduced so far. (And hopefully it will *actually* be an improvement, unlike for example Dead Rising which IMO never surpassed the first game somehow.)
It’s nice when new IP does well even when it’s not hyper polished, gotta start somewhere.
This would be a shame. :/ give it a chance to find it’s footing. The wrong people get hit by projects getting cancelled/discontinued. It’s the project leads and the suits above them that need sorting out, not the developers, who clearly did the best they could given some crazy circumstances.

People can bring whatever angle suits them to a review. If they were all the same - things would be super boring. People bring loads of personal facets into reviews that don’t affect my enjoyment of a game, who cares? Using them as a staging ground to attack entire other groups is pretty lame.

Travel is gameplay.
Half of the hunting and procedural stuff wouldn’t happen if you were fast travelling everywhere. It’s like complaining about random encounters in a JRPG.. They’re a core part of the game.
