I have enjoyed Dead Rising on the 360 and Dead Rising 2 on the PC. It's a fun silly title that's for sure. But saying it's the best launch title on any console is a bit of a stretch. I really really really really really hope this comes to the PC though.
While that is ALL true and I agree 100%. RAM does play a part in it too. If the X1 had the same GDDR5 as the PS4, even with a weaker GPU they could still render at the same resolution, the only thing is they would have to cut back on GPU compute heavy things like physics and shader processing.
But in reality, that's the whole point of why the X1 is a technically weaker hardware. It has slower RAM, stupid ESRAM, coupled with a weaker GPU which = Lower resolution and lower ...
To be fair, they're not 1200 premium cars. I think more like 300 or something.

Actually you're partially correct. Yes the GPU is what determines the output resolution. However, VRAM is what stores the shader programs, vertex buffers, index buffers, and textures that is processed by the GPU. In essence, if you have a extremely fast GPU and small framebuffer, you can't have higher resolutions. Well, you can but it will be bottlenecked and it will be pointless. (Pretty much what ESRAM is doing to the X1's GPU, while really fast but also really tiny)

You know I'm starting to think they might have been better off without the ESRAM and just give developers that giant 8GB pool of DDR3 RAM. That way they wouldn't have to try and cram stuff into the ESRAM. It's the most unusual design choice I have ever seen in a hardware next to the PS3.
It's like having 8000 60mph lanes on the freeway merge into 32 200mph lanes. It's a severe bottleneck.
That was theoretical output. In reality it was only 250-400gflops. Who knows maybe the rsx could do 1.8tflops but was limited by its 256mb vram.
It's twilight zone stuff isn't it? In an alternate reality where the xb1 has more powerful hardware we would be seeing these guys say how awesome and clear and smooth and real next gen 1080p/60fps is.

Yeah I played the Beta on PC and it was fun but really wasn't mind blowing. Might give it a go once it's on PS4 so I can play with a controller.
Sigh whatever, you put ANY console in a super enclosed casing and it will overheat. I'll have a heart attack if I ever see someone try to put a PC with a Radeon 290X in a casing and run it at full load.

I agree, I still love FF6 and FF7.
Where they went wrong is the "western" approach to their games. Even go as far as buying Eidos to try and capture the western market.
FFXIII was a disappointment, to this day I still haven't beat it. I have no urge to and probably never will. I still can't shake the feeling that since they went multi-disk for the 360 version they segmented the entire game.
