Dead on assessment. Did people forget how bad they ripped the ps3 for COD black ops running in 576p vs 600p on the 360. Now that was a small difference. But now that the ps4 draws 125% more pixels than the x720, all of a sudden its negligible and resolution doesn't matter.
^Excellent points CryofSilence.
The biggest pitfall of the Xbone will ALWAYS be the GPU. Even if it had GDDR5 like the PS4, it won't matter since the GPU is weaker. It has NOTHING to do with how the system uses RAM. However, it's even more saddening on top of the weaker GPU, it uses slower DDR3 and that bottleneck 32mb of ESRAM (fast, but severely limited in size.)
While on the PS4 end, developers are having a field day with that big gigantic pool of ...
This is the unfortunate result of the mixed marketing of the Wii-U. There are people that still think it's an add-on to the Wii.
I don't understand how Nintendo didn't have their biggest games ready from the get go.
This is sad because I'm a Nintendo Kid. But I've lost any interest in their consoles since the Wii. It has been sitting under the TV collecting dust for the past 4 years. And I was interested in the Wii-U but there simply isn...
And this is a launch title... One hell of a launch title.
I cancelled my BF4 PS4 pre-order and will be getting this instead. The gameplay reminds me a lot of KZ: Merc which I had a lot of fun with.
lol I'm done on N4G today when we still have people like this guy who thinks BF4 will magically bump its resolution 125% in a couple weeks.
It's pretty much been common knowledge they started development on the PS4 in 2008
Clearly know nothing? lol
I know well enough that it's complete BS to try and spin it as being hard to develop for. PURE SPECS alone dictates from the beginning the PS4 not only has a more powerful GPU (which is needed for HIGHER RESOLUTIONS) on top of having GDDR5 in which has been used for GPU's since god knows what 2007?
It's ZERO SURPRISE that the X1 can't output at a higher resolution being bottle-necked by that measly 32mb and slower DDR...
No it has nothing to do with that. The whole esram thing is the same as the xbox 360 and what did people say about the 360? That it's easy to develop for. It's just the fact is that the x1 gpu just isn't that great with only 1.3tflops and bottlenecks itself with ddr3
Native means that's the true resolution the system is rendering. Upscaled means they rendered it at a lower resolution then projected it to the higher resolution on the tv. 720p is 921,600 pixels and 1080p is 2,073,600 pixels. That's more than twice the resolution the X1 is outputting. The difference is in clarity, less aliasing, and sharper everything.
Exactly what was on my mind. It's from a pure specification stand point. It was in their faces the whole time and they still kept trying to argue it.
The PS3 version is 720p, has more jaggies, looks sharper, and has a higher contrast. It must be better right? Right?
Nah but seriously, judging from this small video the biggest difference is the sea water.
^No not fairy dust, it's TeH ClOuDz!
In all seriousness, AO is a little more taxing on the GPU. I remember my BC2 days, I had to turn it down from HBAO to SSAO or completely off to hit 60fps on my GTX 465(at the time.)
This does not bode well for the Xbone version if it's already having a hard time holding 60fps at 720p!
Ah when will this ever die. Come on, yes PC Graphics > Console graphics. And it will be that way for the foreseeable future.
But that does not detract anything from the actual games on consoles. People will enjoy the living day lights out of their favorite games on PS or Xbox, it doesn't matter.
Except for me I'm going multi-platform on PC and PS4 exclusives. But guess what, my computer and the sum of its parts cost $1500.
They do not look the same.

Not microscopic, just open your eyes a little bit. Just a teeny weeny.

Guess which one is which?
If you said Xbox 360 on the right, you are close.
^In order to have the same level as the console you need at least a HD7850 or GTX650Ti Boost. To get 60fps at 900p that is. And based on some benchmarks on the beta, a good CPU is really needed, which is at least an AMD 6-core or i5 (i3's aren't going to cut it anymore). So in essence the PS4 still costs less at $399.
Yes well most PC gamers are fairly familiar with AO. There's HDAO on AMD cards, HBAO for Nvidia, and SSAO for both. I think Dice didn't include it on the X1 version to keep the performance at 60fps.
Yes it was a big debacle about the superiority of the 360 over the ps3. It was the same story though, a lot of ps3 games were sub-hd because it was limited by the split 256mb of vram. Now the table has turned with the X720 being held back by ddr3 and esram and weaker gpu.
