I'm liking this. One makes an early presentation, another has Direct videos to keep gamers interested, then you have a pre-E3 event to talk about another new console. It's going to be a great year. I love seeing them try and upstage the other. It's also nice not having everything at E3. These early events and announcements are much better. I guess Valve should be showing us something too this year. Lots of choices, nobody should be complaining.
How can you be behind 6 months if you don't have much to show before that? It's not like Microsoft has been pumping out 1st party games for the past few years. Nintendo and Sony seem to be able to handle both handheld and console game supplies, especially Sony.
I'd like to see Microsoft invest more into new studios and not just with the same ip's or XBLA and Kinect games.
This was actually quite well thought out. The bottom line is this, gaming is a hobby not a right. Nobody owes you anything.
Of course the best way to counter piracy is to offer a better service. That can be quite hard to do with something like games that are often a one time purchase. If you can get the exact replica somewhere else for free how can you compete with that?

What we don't want is a situation like before where Sony forces developers to have exclusive content if it gets a later release date or Microsoft demanding simultaneous release dates. This should all be at the discretion of the publisher. I'm tired of console makers making demands and restrictions on multiplat games.

There are those who get off ruining the experience for others and there are also those who do this stuff accidentally. I can see why they would want to put in restrictions but it still won't work.
1. A smartphones main purpose is still a phone. People use many other features and apps. The operating system, the screen, the app support and so on are selling features.
2. The next Xbox's main purpose will indeed be a game system. The online services, the media capabilities, the price and so on are also selling features.

I'd rather see a 2 year cycle so that the ip doesn't lose it's value. When you start having an annual cycle you get desensitized to the excitement for a new game.

Does the game offer enough replay value? What will happen in the future if games are locked and cannot be resold or rented, will this have an impact of his type of games?

What's funny to me is all the arguing between console owners, mainly PS3 and Xbox 360. They argue about any slight difference. In fact we have sites like Lens of Truth that talk about screen tearing, frame rate and pixels between the two. Always trying to depict a winner. Meanwhile the PC usually trumps both by quite a bit but console owners are always quick to dismiss the PC.

People need to consider that this is obviously in relation to the U.S.A. All the sales the writer used were not worldwide. In that case Microsoft could do good again in that area. It will be interesting if they even launch the new system in Japan? They just don't like the Xbox brand from the very beginning, doubtful that will change unless they bought Sega, Namco and Capcom. Even then they'd have a tough time.
