it's how that power is used. PS3 uses a lot of it's system resources just to keep the operating system running. The 360 has very low overhead in comparison and thus has more resources available for running games. The PS3 doesn't have it all over the 360, either. The Xenos graphics engine in the 360 pisses all over RSX. The reason IBM uses Cell chips, is because they were the ones who designed the freakin things in the first place. Do you think they are going to design a product and then not u...
bow to the might of my emachines M6811 laptop. Bwahahahahaha!!!
may not have the time to unlock their full potential in the 2nd or 3rd generation. They need to be doing it NOW in light of the huge headstart that 360 got on it and the fact that Nintendo doesn't have production and distribution issues like Sony does and is basically spanking them in sales with a technologically inferior system.
That the PS3's only killer app is on the top rental list. It must not be so killer if people are renting instead of buying it.
we have one story pending here that says that the 1080i thing is fixed by the 1.30 patch, and another that says it isn't. Someone please decide which it is before either of these articles is published, or don't publish either of them.

"The funny part? The BDP-S1 doesn't come with an HDMI cable either."
Sony is so intent on convincing people that you NEED an HDMI cable for HD content, but they make you go out and buy one seperately?? Nice way to get the public to embrace your crappy technology by making them go out and spend another $50 on top of the already outrageous price for the player to actually see the output in HD.
King Kong is a $40 movie, the remote control is a $30 accessory. $200-$40-$30=$130 that you are actually paying for the HD-DVD drive.
doesn't have much to do with running the company anymore. That's why he let someone else do the job. Software wiz kid he may be, but running a huge company like Microsoft is not something for a college drop out. He really doesn't have to do very much, anyway, except sit back and collect dividend checks and watch the value of his shares continue to rise.
when they intimidated Lik-Sang into shutting down their business. If anyone could have gotten PS3's into the hands of European consumers, it would have been L-S. Copyright and patent issues, notwithstanding, Sony needs to have someone pushing the format in Europe right now so that HD-DVD doesn't get the 6 month head start that it has everywhere else, not in the spring and since Sony Europe can't deliver, they need to let someone else do it. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I know ...
is that an internal drive for a PC has to allow for game and application data to be loaded into the PC, which you can't do with the 360 HD-DVD. Still, HD-DVD is first to market again and with a big name behind it. Toshiba is Sony's biggest rival in home entertainment electronics. When Sony or one of it's partners comes out with an internal Blu-Ray drive for PC, it will probably be $100-$150 higher.
"Consumers who buy fake goods will be horrified to discover where their money is actually going."
As long as they can save a few pounds over buying a legit copy of a film or music CD, I don't think consumers really care. It's more money they can use to enhance other aspects of their life.
just for playing movies, both HD and regular DVD. A movie disc will never see the inside of my 360.
playing Wii on a doll house tv.
aren't going to make it anyway. Retailers have tried in the past to create retail outlets for one specific brand of products and failed. Consumers buying electronics and gadgets want to have more choices than just Sony when they shop. I stop in at the one in the mall near my house whenever I am there, and never once have I seen the customers outnumber the sales staff.
I bought the 360 and the HD-DVD unit. More of the looky-loos need to climb down off the fence and see what a better deal the 360 is.
the mouse over feature to do the comparison. It works a lot better than trying to compare side by side images. WHAT THE CELL IS GOING ON!!!!!
they can't afford to bribe developers into signing exclusive contracts, and Microsoft and Nintendo don't have to pay, because where else are the developers going to go if they want to make any money??
It felt to me like I would get about 5 minutes of game play and then be forced to sit through 20 minutes of CGI before I could play again. Is this what PS3'ers are pushing so hard to get?? No thanks.
they needed to hit the ground running with an abundance of units available, killer titles at launch, and a price that people don't mind paying. They failed on all three counts. A killer online service would have been nice, as well, but they dropped the ball there, too. They have to step up their game dramatically if they want to stay in it this time around. Every day that goes by that they aren't making substantial progress towards the goal of being #1, is another day that they fall farther a...
