go out and buy a 20gb PS3 (that's the one they lose the most money on) then let it sit in the bottom of your closet, unopened. Don't buy any games for it or any Blu Ray movies, either. If we take 9-10 million PS3's off the market, that will be up to 3 BILLION dollars Sony will lose producing the PS3 that they will NEVER get back. If you really want to use it, though, you can buy used games and movies, as Sony only gets paid once, when they are new and used movie sales figures aren't looked at...
Looks like Sony loses another one, and a big one at that.
Is most of those people who bid $2000 or more never paid. One person with like 3 feedbacks total won 7 different auctions in the first week following launch and never paid.
There are over 2 million 360's in the UK, and they launched around the same time there as in the US. There's is no way that you are going to tell me that more than half of those sales were in the final 6 weeks or so of 2005. 360 has to have outsold PSP in 2006.
is that their partners have a lot of money invested in promoting Blu Ray and if they can't get their investment back because of PS3, then they are basically getting it up the behind from Sony who is taking their development dollars and giving them nothing but red ink in return.
the reason they won't let you download content for the PSP directly is then they don't get to force a Blu Ray player into your house whether you want it or not.
those are resell units. When they count units available for sale, they are only counting units for sale at the actual retail price from trusted merchants. Ebayers and other profiteers don't count. Besides, if I'm going to pay that sort of price for a console, I better get something other than just the console with it. At least CompUSA was selling a bundle with 6 games for the lowest price of the Amazon sellers selling just the console alone.
I thought Sony said it was impossible to play Blu Ray movies without HDMI. So which is it?? Apparently Philips thinks you don't need HDMI. Is this the mark of a split between Sony and the rest of the Blu Ray camp already?? Was Microsoft right about HDMI not being needed this early??
They deviated too much from the original concept of the brutes. They were supposed to be so strong physically that they didn't need armor or personal shields like the elites.
another variant of the PS3, they need to get shipping more of the two variants they already have. Tying up needed components for this $2500 monstrosity they are cooking up is going to be a huge mistake.
and Sony's hype kept a lot of people from buying it. The difference now is, Sony's hype hasn't been good enough to keep the 360 from selling, and now that people are seeing Sony's hype as just that, they will be buying more 360's now.
SHIPPED is not the same thing as SOLD THROUGH. Sony may be able to SHIP 2 million units by the end of the year, but if those units gather dust in warehouses and on store shelves, what good are they??
and his IP address blocked. He uses multiple accounts to get around the 5 post per thread rule.
100 first party games in development at the same time is NOT good news for PS3 fans. It means Sony will be spreading their resources thinly to each title instead of being focused on a few. Quality is bound to suffer. Better they should try to make 10 really outstanding games than 100 mediocre or bad games.
They are also going to fracture their user base by giving them too many titles to choose from on store shelves all at once. Nobody can afford to buy 100 games all at once at $60 ...
This is what happens when rumors get started about retailers hoarding consoles for the last shopping weekend before Christmas.
Duker, I doubt they 'tunneled' in the way a POW would tunnel out of a prison camp. They most likely just chiseled the mortar from around a few concrete blocks and came in through the wall. An office supply store near my house got broken into that way once.
F*ck you hyperbear. I wasn't making a remark against Canadians in any way, and I have been to Canada and know many Canadians, so I have no misconceptions about them. Why don't you come out of your mother's basement and travel the world like I have (26 countries and growing) before you open your stupid mouth about what you think I know about people from other countries a$$hole.
is the noise from the 360, but it's totally irrelevant. When I'm sitting in front of my monitor with my 5.1 surround speakers all around me and I'm engrossed in the plot of a game, I don't notice the noise from the 360 at all. It gets completely covered by the game sounds, and I don't even have to crank up the speakers, even at low volume, the noise disappears. It's not even a point that's worth mentioning, anymore.
The problem is they can't fully resolve it. The only thing they can do is what they have done by changing the order of preference of the resolution that the PS3 starts up in. The problem is, now that they have favored 1080i owners over 720p owners, the 720p owners are now having problems getting BR movies to play in anything other than 480p, which is the same problem 1080i owners were having before the update. Whichever way Sony turns on this issue, they will end up alienating someone. This i...
This lawyer seems to know what he's talking about. I don't think they are going to be able to stop Nintendo from selling the Wiimote, at least not until after a trial. Nintendo is definitely going to come to court armed with decades worth of patents to back themselves up. A lot of people don't realize just how old Nintendo really is. The company that became Nintendo was actually started back in 1889 (yes, that's EIGHTEEN EIGHTY NINE) as a manufacturer and distributor of playing cards. They ar...
you are limited to 5 posts per topic and can have your posts taken away if you get too many offensive reports. They can stop a lot of the crap by IP banning people who manage to find workarounds to the 5 post limit like multiple accounts or hacking. That effectively will prevent anyone from going off on a rant with 20 or 30 posts in a single thread.
