That is pretty strange. Maybe stabbing dinosaurs in the head won it a few points.

I think that's part of the reason it's being judged so harshly. CoD4 is another big reason, I think. If this had been a release title, it might even have received a lot of positive feedback. However, in today's environment, it is being compared to some exceptionally good games, and as such, it looks horrible in its overall mediocrity.

It's still a decent game. I'm sure a lot of people will really like it. It has a nice feel to the controls, in my opinion, and I enjoyed the Nectar...

Halo 3 can kinda be excused because it was a release title, and everyone was excited by the graphics the 360 could manage at the time. It isn't exactly impressive by today's standards, but it still looks pretty decent.

What amuses the hell out of me is that GTA IV had all the same graphical problems that IGN claims Haze has, yet they gave GTA IV a 10. That just wreaks of pandering to Rockstar, and frankly, it's disgusting. I won't argue that it isn't a problem with Haze, but the ...

Agreed. The fact that it is an exclusive doesn't make it inherently good. A mediocre game is a mediocre game, and the fact that it's a shooter actually makes it look worse than it is because there are a few really good ones out now, and a few really good ones coming.

I think that's probably why the reviewers are being so harsh with Haze. It's not a bad game, but it doesn't compare particularly well with CoD4 or even Resistance, and Resistance was a release title on the PS3. It's ...

It's hilarious to me that GTA IV had *every single one* of the graphical issues that they gave Haze a 4.0 in the graphics department for, yet they gave that game's graphics a 10/10.

I'm sure they held back on putting new stuff in the multiplayer demo because they knew someone would film parts of it on their camera phone and post it. Using the old models allows them to really spring a surprise on us when they release the first gameplay footage on the 13th of next month.

Is it wrong that I'm almost as excited about the gameplay footage on the 13th as I am about MGS4 on the 12th?

The IGN Playstation podcast is pretty awesome, too.

I'm sure the price will reflect that. I'd be surprised if they charged less than $10 per episode. Then again, I'd be willing to pay that if the game turned out to be good...And it really does look great.

Lot of horrorish titles coming out this year. Deadspace, Alone in the Dark, Silent Hill, Siren...I'm excited. :)

I'm really glad that Valkyria Chronicles got a release date for the US. That's a game I've been looking forward to.

This isn't really a surprise. This is what happens when a console maker does no QA on third-party titles. They end with a torrential rain of horrid shovelware, so people lose faith and don't bother buying third-party titles anymore.

It also doesn't help that despite a huge install base, a lot of the people that have Wiis don't buy more than a couple games because they generally don't spend much time gaming. It's a very different sort of audience, although they have achieved some...

That review definitely sounds like it was aggregated from previews and information that Ubisoft and Free Radical have released, not based on any actual gameplay experience past the demo. Then again, perhaps they didn't go into much detail to avoid giving out any significant spoilers in the plot.

Hm. If it turns out to be decent, I might have to build up another gaming PC.

640x480 was good back when my PC had a Pentium 1 processor in it. I'm impressed...Nintendo has finally caught up to fifteen years ago.

No, it really looks like a heavily-aliased mess, no matter where you go. The environments are great, but it doesn't deserve a 9.5 graphically because the aliasing is so bad.

This is an exclusive. It will look a lot better than CoD4 will by the time it is finished.

Didn't they claim to have a 1,000 page script at one point?

This is one I'm really looking forward to. I could definitely use a survival horror fix.

That'd be the best way to do it, I think. It is, after all, an OS function. Guess we'll see how that turns out...

Don't get me wrong, GTA IV is a great game, and it does deserve high marks for immersion, interesting story, and fun gameplay. I wouldn't change the overall rating at all because it's a great game, and for the record, I'm well aware that graphics aren't everything...

However, the person that gave the game a 9.5 in the graphics department should be reprimanded for falsifying information in a review. Yes, it has a huge environment that stays pretty visible throughout, and yes, the ...

I wouldn't hold Valve responsible for this. They have stated time and again that they are not PS3 developers. They had no intention of getting this game onto the PS3 to begin with. That was EA's call, and as such, their responsibility.

I do agree, however, that you should hesitate before buying a Valve game on the PS3, because a third-party developer was most likely involved. You're better off renting before you buy in those situations because quality will suffer if the port wasn...
