Agreed. The AA is good enough that the resolution isn't really important.
Is the starter pack essentially going to be the full version, or will it be necessary to purchase a separate product to get full access to MGO? It's been difficult finding the answer to that question, and I keep hearing conflicting stories.
There are far worse games out there that got better reviews than Haze did. I have a feeling it was rated based on how it performed relative to the hype instead of how it performed relative to other products in the same category.
No, the game didn't live up to expectations. However, that doesn't make it worse than Blacksite. :P
Sadly enough, I don't think it was dumbed down graphically. I think the screenshots and videos we were shown of its gameplay in the last six months just happened to be representative of a few great-looking moments and not the whole package.
After playing the demo, I actually went back and watched all of the Haze videos I had saved again, and looked back at all the screenshots. Upon close inspection, I noticed a lot of the same aliasing problems in both the videos and screenshots....
I can't help but wonder if these screenshots aren't taken from pre-rendered cutscenes. They look absolutely incredible. Does anyone know for a fact whether or not these were done with the in-game engine?
Before rabid fanboys jump all over me for "attacking" this game, bear in mind that I'm also a PS3 owner, and I'm also buying this game. There's something wrong with the fact that I have to disclaim that, but eh, that's the world we game in. :P
Playing our own music while we're gaming would be nice. Not sure if that'd be a part of in-game XMB, or a separate change, but either way...
I'm a Google fanboy, and I hadn't heard of a lot of those projects. I do have an Orkut account, although I haven't used it since I registered it. I should play with it a bit...
Glad it'll have a demo. I'd love to check it out. It sounds like a blast.
Good question, and one I'd like an answer to as well.
I pick them up used for around $15 all the time. People buy them, watch them once, then sell them to local places that'll pay cash. It's fiscally irresponsible of them, but it's a huge boon to me. Kinda messed up, but if I wait a week after a movie's release on Blu-ray, I can generally get it for $15 somewhere.
Amazon has some good deals every once in a while, too, and their marketplace has a lot of used listings that have decent prices. I think they're actually still doing their...
I'd be willing to bet that the marketing department opened his cage. They're trying to talk tough to scare people away from the "dying" platform because they, themselves, are afraid that the PS3 will take off in this year and the next. Their install base lead is shrinking on the global level, and they're well aware of that fact.
"Socom does not look like it can compete against Games like Gears 2."
It's not meant to. It's a purely competitive online game aimed at the hardcore SOCOM audience. Gears 2 isn't. :P
I'm sure Vampire Rain will be awesome on the PS3, too.

Supposedly, that's something they're working on for both consoles. Or, that was the buzz a while back, anyway. They were making disks that people could pop into their consoles to stream video with.
I'm going to hold out to see if anything comes of that strategy before I splurge on another piece of hardware. I have a feeling it won't happen, though. It doesn't make a lot of sense to allow competition for your own built-in rental services.
I'm getting extremely irritated by all the previews saying that the multiplayer doesn't look that great for that very reason. They've been told by Insomniac that the models aren't in yet, yet they continue to spew crap like that. It's very frustrating.
I can't help wondering if these smaller sites aren't getting second- and third-hand information without ever seeing the game, because *I* know that the new models aren't in yet, and I didn't get a hands-on preview. Maybe these peop...
"Right now, if we exclude screenshots and teaser trailers, all we have to go on in the R2 graphics front is a multiplayer battle set in Californian forest. While the graphics looked impressive, we weren't blown away."
Gee, I wonder if that's because Insomniac didn't put in any of the new models before they showed that demo. :P They said as much in several interviews.
Obviously, a few bad eggs spells a failed platform...Nevermind Vampire Rain and Two Worlds, right?
They gave GTA IV's graphics a 10/10, and Haze's graphics a 4/10. However, if you look at the reasons he listed for the 4/10, they're problems that GTA IV's graphics had too.
I won't be trusting IGN's reviews in the future. I don't think they're biased against the PS3...I think they're pandering to publishers, and that's not something I can stand in a "news agency."
I have a funny feeling that it was probably designed for the 360 first, honestly. It looks like a cross-platform game graphically, especially when you compare it to Resistance. That game had very little aliasing even on my 61" DLP HDTV, and when I tried the Haze demo immediately after spending a few hours with Resistance, I was amazed by how bad it looked by comparison.
I'm kinda puzzled why Sony gave them a check to keep this exclusive, honestly. The finished product just i...
This is very exciting. I really like the idea of being able to voice chat with friends while we're playing different games.
Finally picked up a bluetooth headset in anticipation of this change. Hope it makes it into 2.4.
