This is just a random guess, but I'm thinking Nintendo will call them "Awards."
Every gaming company copies someone else sometimes, even Nintendo.
"Why Valve on the PS3 Can Change Everything"
Wow, you've got to love hyperbole. The fact that Valve has finally decided to focus on the PS3 is good, but it's not going to "Change Everything." PS3 has been doing fine without Valve, and would have continued to do fine had Valve not decided to support Sony.
Nintendo is usually very cost-conscious. So I doubt it will cost $250. I'm betting it will be between $150 and $200. My guess (and this is only a guess) is that it will end up being about $179.99.
@Quadrix
Going after achievements is not synonymous with cheating. I can understand the frustration when you're in some online experience, and your teammates or allies are focusing on getting trophies/achievements instead of focusing on the best winning strategy, but that's different than cheating.
"Yes you can sit or stand with Kinect"
Okay, great. But can I use it while standing on my head?
That doesn't make sense. How are achievements an incentive to make people cheat?
An achievement-type system would be great. I enjoy going after trophies on PS3, so I'd enjoy it on 3DS also. I'm wondering what they'd call it though. Awards, maybe?
You're comparing Apples to Oranges. The iPhone is a hybrid machine with multiple functions. It was never designed specifically for gaming, and that's why those restrictions exist. Whereas the 3DS is dedicated specifically to gaming, so no such restrictions or limitations apply.
The PSP is not 7 years old. It was released in, I believe March or April of 2005. That would make it 5 years old.
I don't think Nintendo ever said that. But I think certain developers who are familiar with the specs of the 3DS have said that it's somewhere between a Wii and a 360/PS3. Of course we won't know for sure until specs are released, but I hope that's true.
The Dreamcast was not more powerful than the PS2. The PS2 out-powered the DC in every way. I'm not sure where you're getting your information.
And exactly what upgrades did Nintendo borrow from the PSP for their 3DS? Are you referring to the adoption of the widescreen or something?
Just saw the video. Those are some great graphics, especially for a handheld. I just wish I could see the 3D effect on my monitor. I'm anxious to get 3DS whenever it comes out.
I was surprised too. I was like 99% sure they would announce the PSP 2. But like you said, Sony is sure to announce it at TGS this Fall.
No that was real. Nintendo later decided to scrap it and start from scratch. Thus Wind Waker came about.
ULTRA MEGA WANT!
Where did you hear that the 3DS would have to render visuals twice? That doesn't sound right.
That doesn't make sense. The XL means extra large. That would make it bigger, not smaller.
No the 3DS isn't going to be on par with the PSP. It will definitely exceed the PSP's horsepower if the 3DS really is comparable to a Wii. Remember folks, the PSP is basically a slightly inferior PS2. The Wii is roughly double the power of a PS2. So in all likelihood, the 3DS will be about double or more the power of the PSP. With that said, I'm sure Sony will counter with a PSP 2 that beats the 3DS.

But for all we know at this point, the 3D...
It looks like it will be amusing for children, but I haven't seen anything that appeals to me on Kinect.
