You can download the demo and try it out. I did, but I wasn't impressed.
What is the deal with all the hate for Destructoid on N4G? I think they're one of the more honest and reliable gaming sites.
EDIT: @Unicron - I love Jim Sterling. He's my favorite Destructoid reviewer because he's not afraid to call it like he sees it. While tons of other sites and publications were praising that piece of crap Final Fantasy 13, Jim was one of the few reviewer to accurately rate that game. I don't always agree with Jim, like when he gave Assas...
This is a good review. I agree with Jim. There's nothing original or new in this game. The developers just borrowed gameplay ideas from a bunch of other games, but not from any other Castlevania games for some stupid reason. But none of these stolen ideas is implemented well. The best thing about Lords of Shadow is the free download of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night that was packed in. Symphony is way better than this new game.
I used to love Square back in the SNES and PS1 era. Since then, they've just lost their way, and they're now one of my least favorite developers/publishers. I hope they can get their shit together and go back to greatness.
Well thank you Captain Obvious.
Ouch. This game has been getting hammered by everyone.
Unfortunately, it probably will. COD fans, have fun paying full price for the same game every year like the Madden suckers. Not to mention the overpriced DLC you'll be pressured into buying. Bobby Kotick loves your gullibility.
I would say don't worry about IGN's and Gamespot's reviews for this game. Both of those sites gave Final Fantasy 13 and Metroid: Other M 8.5's, even though they both deserved far lower scores. Nuff said.
I'm getting a 3DS.
Well, not really. None of the games on the virtual console were designed to appear in 3D, so don't expect to be playing Super Metroid or Super Mario World in 3D or anything.
As well as Metroid: Other M.
Sorry, I have to disagree with you about story and graphics. Good graphics and a good story can compliment a game but it's all about gameplay in the end. For example, Pac-Man and Tetris are classics but they have archaic graphics and no story.
Good call on only buying used. If I every purchase an Activision game, which isn't that often, I always buy used, and it's mainly because of that idiot Kotick. That guy is poison for Activision. I'm surprised he hasn't been somehow forced out of the company to help improve its sagging image.
Hurry the hell up with the sequel. The first one is my favorite PS3 game. I've played it more than any other game on PS3 by far.
Kinect's controller-less setup makes it virtually impossible to control a first-person shooter or really any game where you have to control a character. The technology is kind of neat and may one day be refined into something better, but once you get over the wow-factor of manipulating objects with body motions you're just going to be left with a bunch of simplistic mini-games. Wii and Move allow for more gaming opportunities, so no, Kinect is not a step forward for gaming.
As a longtime Castlevania fan, I'm really looking forward to this game.
Actually, Heavenly Sword came out Sept. 2007, nearly a year after the PS3's launch.
I'm really excited about this release. I only played a little bit of each game, so I'm looking forward to playing them with better graphics, better framerate, and trophies.
There should be a demo. You can try that and see if you like it.
Wow, great score. Even the second opinion was a 9.5. I was going to pass on this entirely, but I guess now I'll at least rent it.
