I don't care for the practice, but I'll still play the games on ps5 and enjoy them.

You and me both.

And what exactly does that have to do with the words directly from the mouth of the architect of the ps4 and the ps5? Again....some of you focus on the complete wrong thing. You make zero sense.

I can't imagine Guerilla would ever do that. They would essentially have to make two different games, because the added possibilities of what players could do in game with the flying option would fundamentally change the way battles/traversal/exploration etc would be approached. Far too much work for a ps5 only version of the game and would take much longer to not only develop but bug test. I would love to see flying mounts I just don't know if they'll get it to work on ps4. I...

Things of the past resonate more than things of the present. You're talking about all time games, all time experiences. Meanwhile, what racing game of the past 10 years will stand the test of time and be remembered like the "things of the past", as you put it? Those games were revolutionary, whereas the racing games of today are evolutionary. Major difference. 10 years from now, the racing games will put 2021 games to shame....but the classics will still be classics, and st...

Also, the author is misinformed and uneducated in game design. Mark Cerny himself has stated quite clearly that the many features of the ps5, including the ssd, will allow the console to move game design forward in a way that just is not possible on a ps4, where assets have to be duplicated and stored all over the hard drive just so they can load more easily.....which means any games designed for ps4 are limited from the very start. Wake up, for crying out loud.

I don't consider it a good thing, but if it means we get new versions of Horizon and God of War more quickly this gen than we otherwise would have, fine. The real question is what happens to the next Naughty Dog game and for example, the next Spider-Man....if those games are also crossgen, I would consider that to be problematic, because it would mean Sony is no longer innovating, but hedging their bets and limiting what is possible on ps5 in order to capitalize on a large ps4 player bas...

Some people prefer GT, others Forza. What cannot be downplayed is the fact GT is still tied closely to the FIA, and gamers have gotten FIA racing licenses and professional racing careers started all from playing Gran Turismo. That is impressive no matter how you look at it. I enjoy them both, tbh. I prefer the more open Forza Horizon to Motorsport, and Gran Turismo was my first love in racing games (well not really, I think my first loves were pole position and rc pro am, but I digress) s...

"This wasn't so clear in the State of Play, but in the open world of the Forbidden West, you can climb anywhere. You also don't have to ping the Focus all the time. As was explained, the Focus ping is only for places where the light conditions are bad. At night for example, when you cannot see climbing points immediately, you can ping it just to see more clearly. Even without the ping though, you can always climb up places. We added the glider so you can quickly go down as well, ...

You mention Horizon 3 but tbh, by that time, gamers will be wanting that game to push the ps6, and will probably be saying many of the same things you're hearing now about being disappointed that Forbidden West is essentially a ps4 game with improved graphical fidelity and fps on ps5.

War....War never changes. Personally I would have loved if Forbidden West and God of War were true ps5 exclusives, but either way I know I will play the hell out of both of them and enjoy...

I'm just hoping to be playing the game in November or December....it would be a real shame if it slipped into 2022, because after Ratchet and Clank launches, I don't know of any other Sony first party title that has a chance of being delivered this year other than Horizon.

I played it on series x because of gamepass. There is no way, if I didn't have a series x that I would buy this game to play on my ps5. There are far better ways to spend my money.

I would pay good money for Aloy to kick my ass.

You're the type of imbecile who probably thought dandy Don Mattrick was doing a bang up job. Typical. Embarrassing indeed, lol. Poor thing.

You're one of those confused types who don't realize that developing a game for the ps4 means it will have limitations it would not have to have if developed for the ps5 exclusively. You enjoy compromise....I'm sure your life is full of it. Me, I prefer to see innovation, new ideas, vastly improved AI, new ways to play, instead of being shuttled down the same narrow corridors, with the same weak AI, with the same limited enemy numbers, to fight in smaller arenas of combat all be...

Exactly. So instead of new ways to play on ps5, that take advantage of the ssd, the ps5 will get the same old tired level design and tricks just like the ps4 version because the ps4 simply cannot load areas quickly enough to push game design forward. Too many short sighted gamers only think "Horizon Forbidden West looks great, what's the problem?". The problem is I look at that game and appreciate that it looks great but I also notice the narrow environments, the funneling of...

You can't spell pandemic. Forgive me for not taking you seriously. Also, these games have been in development for years. Horizon and God of War were designed for the ps4....fair enough, they are using the same game engines. But going forward, if the next Naughty Dog game, or the next Spider-Man is also cross gen, it would be a huge tactical mistake for Playstation. What makes Sony special is their first party devs....if you hamper them for what their vision may be for their games by ...

There was nothing "obvious" that the "first couple years this gen would target previous platforms". Quite the contrary....every single previous Sony console took a different tact, not to mention Sony talking heads saying their belief in console generations differed from the approach of other companies. This is new for Sony, and it's disgustingly disappointing.

1840d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Yeah. Right. What about improved AI, larger environments, new gameplay design? I guess us suckers will have to make do with last gen game development on new hardware. Makes perfect sense. Talk about settling for less. Wake up. Games designed to be played on the ps4 are not leading to any kind of innovation on ps5. Period. End of story.
