People have been saying "one more gen" for 3 generations now. I guess eventually ya'll will get it right.

There is no reasoning with imbeciles. Sour og is a lost cause. Leave him to his fog of confusion. The poor critter seems to live for it. As they say, never wrestle with a pig...you'll both get dirty, but the pig will enjoy it.

What I expect is that in 2021 and 2022, we not be getting games developed for a ps4 that has a tablet cpu from 2012 in it. What we are getting would be akin to a 2009/2010 ps3 blockbuster, like Metal Gear Solid 4 (2008) being developed to run on the ps2 with it's circa 2000 hardware. Is that a good visual for you? Imagine the sacrifices of Metal Gear Solid 4 having to run on the ps2, and what would have to be cut back, then multiply that exponentially for the tech o...

What we want is what Sony has always delivered...innovation and ground breaking game design. Apparently, you're the type who settles for the same ol' stale. Typical.

It's always hilarious to hear the opinion of one of these so called journalists, who have no clue about the realities of game design, pretend when there is a major issue they have some understanding of it. The author makes the incredibly foolish argument that the pandemic and chip shortage are the cause of the Sony pivot. What a clown show. These games are planned years...years, in advance. You don't decide suddenly in 2020 that a game you have been developing for ps5 (and spent u...

I'm certainly not going to wait four years for these companies to get their collective acts together. I have a ps5 and a series x, and I will certainly buy God of War and Horizon, but I really don't see myself buying any other cross gen games, and certainly not full price. Horizon and God of War I understand....they wanted to pump out some quick sequels, utilize the same game engine, cross gen can make sense in that scenario. It's not what I would prefer, but I get it. If I se...

You have to laugh at gamers in this post (and others) who think that compromises don't have to be made in development to get a game to run on the ps4 (which uses a tablet cpu from 2012). These people really are this delusional. What a joke.

Yeah I'm with you...I would definitely prefer these blockbusters to be ps5 exclusives, with all the bells and whistles...the best game the teams could make at the time utilizing the ps5 to their best ability. As the saying goes, "All that you do - do with your might. Things done by halves are never done right."

I know this....if a developer is going to try to charge 70 dollars for the ps5/series x version, that version should be designed for those consoles, and not simply a last gen version with better visuals and framerate options. If it's not fundamentally a better experience, are you seriously attempting to charge for the extra capability inherent to the new consoles while not really taking advantage of it in any unique way?

Bloodborne isn't everybody's type of game. Neither is Ratchet and Clank. Or (insert any game ever made you care to list). It's great to have opinions, but when you somehow convince yourself that your opinion is more valid than someone else's, you become part of the problem.

Uhhhh....it's not about paywall. It's about limitations. Apparently you're thrilled getting less.

"In Horizon Zero Dawn’s Postmortem, Guerilla Games’ Eric Boltjes spoke to how certain robot animals couldn’t follow beyond their respective arena due to memory limitations. It’s also why they weren’t able to have flying mounts for Aloy. Now you have Horizon Forbidden West being made on the same hardware with the same memory limitations – limitations the PS5 d...

LOL another "gamer" who thinks games that have been in development since 2017 have suddenly decided to go cross gen because of the chip shortage/pandemic. Yikes.

@apocalypseshadow

People keep mentioning the chip shortage and the pandemic as if those are factors in God of War or Horizon Forbidden West cross gen development...they are not. Those decisions were made years ago, in the early planning stages for both titles. Neither Sony nor Microsoft would start ps5 development on titles in 2017, then in 2020 suddenly decide to pivot and go cross gen...they would have to scrap years of work and the games would be massively delayed. You are not getting a next gen experience, as you put it. You're getting ps4 game design, with better resolution and framerate options. There is nothing "next gen" about that. Next gen is pushing design forward, so players no longer have to shimmy through narrow corridors, be artificially slowed in the environment to allow loading, more enemies, better AI, etc etc. None of that will happen if developers have to make the game work for a 2013 jaguar cpu. The limitations are o...

There is a large difference between supporting ps4 users and not allowing development teams to push innovation in gameplay design forward with what the ps5 brings to the table. Mark Cerny himself stated ps5 would allow for significantly forward thinking development options.
