I have a ps5. I have a series x. Both of these companies need to deliver experiences that are only possible on the new hardware. Sony has done a much better job with that to this point, but considering that some of it's biggest franchises (Horizon, God of War, GT7) are cross gen, I am definitely disappointed in the focus on ps4 in 2021. Gimped from the get go is not what I want for ps5.
I have a ps5. I want to play games on that console designed to take advantage of its vastly superior to ps4 capabilities. Games that are made to be played on a weak for 2013 ps4 jaguar cpu will not achieve that. To cripple your best asset, your fantastic developers, and pigeon hole their vision for their franchises by making them create games on hardware that is so damn weak is pathetic. The end.
@abizzel1
People like you make no sense to me. Somehow, you say "Neither company can manufacture as many consoles as they wanted or thought they'd be able to due to the chip shortage + COVID" as if either situation you mention has anything at all to do with the issue at hand....it does not. All these games have been in development for years, which means they were always designed to be ps4 titles. They were not designed specifically for ps5 and then all of a sudden co...
Look....the game looks great. My only issue with Sony at the moment is the fact that some of its biggest franchises are being forced to run on a weak for 2013 jaguar cpu. That means many, many things will have to be scaled back that these talented teams would otherwise be able to innovate with. It's sad. You take many of the tools away from what is Sony's best asset, the talented and creative people who make these great games. You're limiting what they are able to achieve with the...

Sony is going to face some serious blowback on this "new" policy....there is no way Sony's major franchises should be hampered in development by having to produce games that will also work on the weak for 2013 jaguar cpu in the ps4. They will make their money in the short term, but this will infuriate many of their loyal fans and gamers who expect their first party titles to push the medium forward, not be hamstrung by the last generations console. It's preposterous. A short...

It's still disappointing to me to see this cross generation focus, because no matter how good Horizon, God of War, or GT7 look, the fact is those studios could do so much more with those titles if they were not hampered by having to get those massive titles to run on a weak for 2013 jaguar cpu in the ps4. So while I will play all those games and no doubt enjoy them, I will know that more could have been and should have been done with all of them.
I am not a fan of Sony's approach to this generation. I have owned every Sony console since the ps1, with the exception of the handheld console. I buy consoles to play new experiences that push the tech, and advance games forward. When you design a game for a weak for 2013 jaguar cpu, that game will have limitations that if you had designed specifically for the ps5 you wouldn't have. I don't care how Sony tries to spin it....that is just ridiculous. As I said, I have owned ev...
I am a fortunate owner of a ps5 and a series x and I'm very happy to have them, but I'm getting a bit tired of things with both. For xbox, it still doesn't have a single first party title of note and won't for at least a year after the launch of series x. With Sony, it's having some of its biggest franchises development hampered by also having to be made to run on the ps4.
Horizon I get...I even understand God of War for much the same reason because in...
I'm also waiting for the next gen version...I'm waiting to see which of the two (ps5 series x) will be best and that's the one I'll go with.
Maybe someone ought to inform the developer the vast majority of biblical historians and forensic scientists believe Jesus had darker skin......
Rent? I prefer to steal my games, thank you very much.
You do realize they are trying to tell a story in between gameplay elements, right??? So you want all action, no story, is that it? There is always multiplayer only if that is your preference. Personally I think it's a good way to get info on the world and characters and draw me deeper into the story elements. To each their own.
F twitter. And f anybody who has a problem with Aloy. Leave that girl alone. Or she'll merc u.
All I need is a release date so I can plan my time off accordingly.
The time is right. Strike now, or I don't even know what to say anymore about MS. The July 2020 showcase was supposed to be their moment, and they completely dropped the ball after giving every indication the show would be spectacular. I'm expecting nothing but gameplay from a decent variety of games.....no more of this cinematic "in engine" nonsense. Please.
Personally I would like to see Forza gameplay, Starfield, Halo of course, and maybe something ...
E3 should be interesting this year....I'm hoping not to be disappointed. It's been strange because for well over a year we've just been getting drips and drabs of information sporadically, hopefully this June we get some substantial gameplay vids (no more bs "in engine" trailers) and at least a few solid release "windows".
They are paying the developer. When you pay, you can demand results. Stop making excuses, they are the tool of the weak minded.
@vengeance1138
Apparently not. And if Sony ends up suffering next gen just as they did early in the ps3 gen because of their choices and greed, you will make the same excuses. That is what people like you do. You can't see the forest for the trees. Typical.
If you have a games company who depends primarily on it's gaming division for profit, you need to keep innovating. Developing games for 2013 tech on 2020/2021 new machinery is not innovation. Good ...
