I don't understand this idea that simply because of DRM Microsoft will lower the prices of their games. Makes no sense, and would only pertain to 1st party exclusives regardless. And if it really made a difference, Sony would match them.
During the opening montage I SWEAR I saw a snippet of an animated game, instantly I though Persona 5. I can't rewatch the conference right now, but I'd be really interested to see every game in that montage detailed.
There's no reason to believe Microsoft would lower the costs of their games. More and more we are seeing that Microsoft is first and foremost about making money. Regardless, if Microsoft lowers their games to $30 then Sony would just do the same.
This article is grasping at straws.
I do agree with your notion, but if a console comes along that tries to implement anti-consumer practices while the others don't, then I don't want that console to succeed.
The 24 hour DRM check does nothing for gamers except restrict who can use the console. If a game developers create a game where you need to be connected to get the full experience, then they can make it an online only game. If not, then allow us to play offline. But this ridiculous notion that because Microsoft wants us to play our games online (and subsequently be forced to buy an XBL Gold subscription) so they force a check every 24 hours is purely and simply about money. If we MUST be onli...
Well I suppose every one's definition of successful is different. What most probably fail to realize is that when Nintendo says they only need to sell one game per console to make money, that isn't accounting for the manufacturing costs of all the consoles and games not purchased. That isn't taking into account the years and millions of dollars it took R&D to make the Wii U.
Right now Nintendo's DS and 3DS are making them a ton of money. There is no real r...
That would be odd, honestly. I have no idea if it's possible or true, just wouldn't understand why Capcom or Microsoft and Sony would do that.
If Valve releases a Left4Dead 3 I would only assume it would be multiplat, but if it's still Microsoft exclusive there would likely be no real reason to own Dead Rising 3. Plus, Dead Rising has always had the Japanese quirks making it seem more at home on the PlayStation.
I don't care either way, just t...
What's not on this list are several of the Son exclusives we've yet to see, so it is still quite impressive.
I agree about F2P, I think it's incredibly smart of Sony (though fairly obvious) to not only include that market, but to make it available Day 1. I'll likely only be able to afford 2-3 games at launch, so I assume I'll be playing some of those F2P games myself.
Plus, Planetside 2 and another one (can't remember) are Sony owned, so it makes even more sense.
Sony owns Dark Cloud.
Need I say more?
I understand and agree that a review should represent a person's opinion. However, I think game writers use the, "reviews are opinions," card in order to deflect from a poorly written and contextualized review. A review should reflect, more than anything else, the writer's opinion on the quality of the game - and while personal opinion certainly is a large part of that it's unfair for a reviewer to not take into account the objective quality versus his/her opinion.
I get what you are saying, but there are reviewers and publications that, be it a specific genre or just in general, are not fair and consistent in their reviews.
Let's take The Dark Knight, for example. The movie has several 50 scores, and quite frankly it's hard to understand how somebody could score the movie so low. I understand people have differing opinions, but as a professional reviewer I should feel confident in your knowledge and taste/objectiveness if you a...
Obviously this list is an opinion, so there's no right or wrong...though let's be honest, TP doesn't deserve to be on there ^_^
The toughest part about trying to come up with a list like this is how do you judge it? Does a game's influence play a significant part? How much does nostalgia play into it? Are we trying to judge games based on how well they were received at the time and if they held up, because some classic films were considered mediocre at the tim...
Here's how I see it:
Sony has a great track record of releasing new IP's, and knowing that Square Enix has Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns or whatever, Final Fantasy Versus XIII (hopefully) and Final Fantasy XV, I feel comfortable with hoping they remake some old games.
I'd rather see them revive some old franchises, but putting that aside if they started remaking the classic Final Fantasy games with modern graphics (and possibly SOME modern...
It's easy to denounce Kinect - I for one want the controller to be something I'm holding in my hands with buttons and analog sticks - but it has sold quite well. What's uncertain is how the public will adopt a new console that is assuredly $399 or more. How many people who purchased a Kinect, aside from the novelty of it or it came bundled, will want to buy the Xbox One because it has a better version of Kinect. Casual gamers generally don't spend a lot of money on games and p...
That's the game from Zombie Studios right? I noticed they showed a smartphone in the trailer, which made me think how creepy it would be if you had the option to let the game developers have weird messages and sounds streamed to your phone at certain parts of the game. Would be REALLY cool and envoke that strange 4th wall breaking awesomeness of Eternal Darkness and Metal Gear Solid.
Sony fired their old marketing firm around January/February and hired the people who marketed Google Chrome, Sprite and Axe body spray.
So far, I'd say it's about a 400,000% increase. Estimated, of course.
I can feel it in the air tonight.
I'm thinking $449 personally; but if Sony goes below $400, doesn't have any online DRM restrictions (I HIGHLY doubt they will) and doesn't have used games restriction (Sadly I think it's 50/50) then it's absolutely game over. I don't want Microsoft to fail in the sense Sony and Nintendo need competition to stay healthy, but I don't want Microsoft to be successful with the anti-consumer practices they are trying to force on us.
Can't wait for E3...
If Ryse has combat similar to the Arkham games, they certainly didn't show it. The gameplay looked like a boring, QTE fest and the blocking arrows/spamming infinite spears looked weird juxtaposed to the pretty darn good looking, fairly realistic art style.
Overall Microsoft's press conference was pretty strong and streamlined, but Ryse looked very disappointing.
