I guess I'm one of the few people who prefers the lighter weight of the PS3 controller; somewhere along the way I've never learned to equate heavy with quality. I haven't had a chance to check out the DualShock3, but I honestly don't miss rumble that much, and often forget about it entirely in most titles when I switch between the 360 and PS3. For the most part, it's just sort of there, and some titles just toss it in so much it numbs your hands to it.
That's not to say the PS3 controll...

The main reason I'm a console gamer is that it's just easier; no checking specs, making sure everything is going to be fast enough, upgrading components every couple years... you just buy the software and go home to play it.
The constant game of making sure your computer is up to the task of playing the latest titles got old, and especially now that so many of the big games are available on both the PC and consoles, it just doesn't give me enough of a reason to keep playing on the PC. ...

"Facebreaker is the successor to Fight Night (it did start as a Fight Night Round 4/Fight Night 08, but evolved into something more unique), but do not fear as it is does not disregard the strong gameplay of its predecessor. Unlike the terrible Prizefighter, all people who have made significant contributions to Facebreaker are actually getting paid and are credited."

Seriously, how is this any sort of announcement? EA made Fight Night, announces new boxing title; she de...

No kidding it's about ratings, that's what all television is about. The difference is in the ways that it's presented, and in my opinion Fox relies on the most sensationalistic methods to deliver their stories, going beyond just the "if it bleeds it leads" credo, and making certain that every store seems to have an air of that mindset. Consistently espousing views that have no merit besides riling people up is what I often see from that network and the people who have shows on it mo...

I say Fox because I saw the 'seX- Box' story 3 different times on various Fox news programming, both national and local. They also jumped all over that Mortal Kombat story a while back like a fat kid on cake.
Generally speaking, when I think overblown bullshit spewing from empty-headed "journalists", I think Fox News. They are always the first to spin everything in the most scandalous way to get ratings in my experience.

Besides, even if previous GTA titles featur...

That is just begging for the media to jump all over it, and you know that it's going to be something various groups latch onto in their attempts to demonize the title further, no matter how it's implemented or presented by GTA itself.

They're as bad for gaming as they are anything else. It's free publicity, and I doubt many people changed their minds about video games one way or another based on this; it just drummed up gamers about a title released months ago and put it into the spotlight once again.
Basically, how many copies of Mass Effect were sold vs how many were not because of this news? I'm willing to bet they didn't lose nearly as many sales as they gained because of the controversy.

Someone please remind me, what has this blog told us in the past that gives it so much credit? I see a combination of the obvious posted as insider information, and way out predictions that we hardly ever see a follow up on. How many insane claims does this person have to their name that came true as predicted? Because right now (and pretty much every time I see this "news") the only thing certain is this is a blog that knows how to generate some easy traffic.

His whole argument is based around the idiotic idea that people actually want the entirety of the xmb in-game, which I'm sure most people aren't calling for. Messaging and music is really all any of us are asking for, and we've seen bits and pieces of that in various games already.

Also; Sony isn't likely trying to bring us the entire XMB. Believe it or not, but we won't "run the risk of creating a rod for our own back" since they wouldn't be stupid enough to try and ma...

I really hope the gameplay itself can match the technologies shown here, we already get enough games that look great but just come up short otherwise. These physics engines are incredible, especially the DMM that dictates what objects are 'made of' and how they will react; bending metal, splintering wood and shattering glass that aren't canned animations will add so much immersion to games.

I guess it could be like a stay of execution, give HDDVD another few weeks to take care of their affairs before they are well and truly screwed.

Please, tell me; what games have the xmb interface for your friends list accessible from mid-game so that you can not only message them, but read previous messages normally found in the XMB only and see their current status? Resistance offers it from the multiplayer menu... and nowhere else. Other games offer messaging, but not using the full xmb interface. See the difference here?

Like Yaster said, Resistance doesn't offer an actual ingame xmb. You can't stop in the middle of the game, online or off, and send and receive messages from your friends. Skate doesn't offer it this way either, but it did offer messaging to friends via a T-mobile sort of device.

Now that you bring it up that option is missing, although the game itself does support it through the online portions when you are Freeburning with friends.

6622d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

It hasn't been implemented in the way that Burnout has; you pause the game AT ANY POINT and it will allow you to access your friends list pulled directly from the xmb. You can see what they are playing, read a message they've sent, and reply to it. You can add friends, remove friends, block idiots... this is different from what's been offered before. Judging by the way the game "shifts" when you bring it up, I'm fairly certain it is using the PS3 OS to power this thing, not just pul...

Good to hear that, after the news that it wasn't selling so hot initially I was worried that it wouldn't hit this mark. I did my part, buying one for myself and one for my best mate as a late birthday/early Christmas. May have to give it another run sometime soon, at least if I can pull myself away from Paradise that is.

Now, to impatiently wait for the sequel...

I bought one the day they came out, and have enjoyed it since, with the features, games and homebrew just getting better and better the whole time. The obvious uses of having a portable aside, I love being able to play it while sitting in front of my computer, waiting for photoshop to crank through a 2gb file. I've taken it to the gym, where using the wifi features I can connect to the ps3 at home and stream music and saved tv shows to it while I'm on the rowing machine, and also like being a...

Sounds sort of like another sin tax, which are some of the stupidest things around in my opinion. "I don't agree with your choices, but since they're not illegal I'll just make you pay more for them."

If the Sierra Club was smart they would have just gone after video games; no way the average American is going to let them tax their televisions, but they may have been able to get one on those awful video games that are corrupting our ever-widening youth.
