The pitchforks are already out, somebody has already lit the torches - you're not going to ruin this mob's night out with something as silly as facts, surely?

There is no way in hell that there are 10 million people waiting to go back to tank controls and fetch puzzles. The excuse for 5 selling so well is that it was the first RE this gen. With 6 outdoing it, it's time to admit there might just be people who like the new style.

Definitely should have been on the list. I believe this was an April fools some years back, but I remember it getting a lot of attention at the time. MGS2 - on the Xbox? With additional parts where you can play with Snake?

Of course, it almost came true - more than once - but the secret "Snake" campaign never turned up.

Because people who aren't going to buy your game no matter what say it should.

Yup, I don't understand either.

There are always a million reasons not to do something. There are also a ton of ways to do something.

It's best to work out how to do it, rather than come up with reasons why you shouldn't.

With all due respect here: if you can't even afford basic necessities of life (like not super noodles), how in the hell do you afford video games?

Seriously, why do you feel the developers should bring you a game that, by your own admission, you probably couldn't buy at full price?

I think the US will have a great Nintendo-themed Christmas this year, and probably Japan as well. Japan is still more expensive than everywhere else in the world, but that doesn't usually stop things from selling...

Europe on the other hand... Letting the retailers set the price? The premium pack is currently averaging out at well over £300 in the UK, and, although it'll come down between now and release, it just seems like such a huge increase over the US prices...

So not at all? Salem "witches" were hanged, not burnt.

Or am I missing something?

Who has taken anything away? They've never bought the sequel and had it taken away and nobody is stopping them from buying the sequel. It'll be fully available on a console that will be in decent supply. More than that, nothing is taken away from the original game.

At the end of the day, nobody would have a sequel if not for Nintendo and, if you choose not to buy a Wii U, you STILL won't have a sequel. So what exactly is the problem h...

@kane_1371

See, this is the bloody problem. Idiots like this who read things that aren't there and get on their high horse despite knowing absolutely nothing about the other person. How is my comment at all fanboyish? It's the opposite, in fact.

Of course the Xbox side would complain if it had been announced as a PS3 exclusive and vice versa. Would they take to twitter and threaten to hurt themselves and people on the development staff over it? Some o...

No, not understandable at all. They paid for a single game and, presumably, they feel they got their money's worth because they were apparently previously excited for the sequel.

If this had been announced as a 360 exclusive, or a PS3 exclusive, this wouldn't have been a problem. Hell, if it had been announced as a multi-plat game but on PS4/720, this wouldn't have been a problem. This is only a problem because the little brats complaining are "too cool"...

There's a difference between 120 million and a potential 120 million. Bayonetta didn't sell a fantastic amount (2 million?). Decent enough, but not enough to inform the people at the Guinness World Records.

On the other hand, being published by Nintendo on a Nintendo console at the beginning of its lifespan (during which core gamers will be desperate for core experiences) is likely to garner much more interest from people. On PS3/360 it'd sell to people who loved ...

Treyarch were in a similar position before getting brought onto Black Ops. They'd be given 6 months to make a game which lacked polish and everybody would bitch about how Treyarch make terrible, horrible games.

I think if Nihilistic are decent enough that they've been allowed to make two games in top-tier franchises, then we can probably presume the issue here is in the amount of time they've been allowed to make the game in. If that's the case then, like Trey...

Oh, like Binary Domain?

Yeah, if I was head of SEGA I just wouldn't dream of releasing Shenmue 3 when another hidden gem like BD got overlooked completely by the same people who now constantly bitch that all they do is Sonic rehashes.

4905d ago 2 agree1 disagreeView comment

At the time there wasn't. It did an awful lot that no other game had attempted.

With that said, nobody bought it when it first came out. Like ICO it's become one of those games that everybody says others should play but nobody ever did.

People remember only the games they played and in the order they played them. It's not anybody's fault that the majority of the people commenting here today will have mainly been enticed into asking for games that made it to magazine covers, friends and major reviews, but when they only played the best games on any given system (and with the advantage of being young enough not to care about little problems in the mid-tier games) it kind of skews the average somewhat.

"Not like today. They're just pushing graphics today. I remember spending weeks during the summer holidays just walking from one side of the wasteland to the other in Fallout 3. Me and my brother knew Resident Evil 5 like the back of our hands, we worked every evening after school to get that platinum trophy. And who remembers that airport level in MW2? Oh boy, I spent some hours there."

Wasn't a super big fan of the way this one turned out (too much "me and my girlfriend" and not enough about what it meant or why the games separate story paths mattered), but I like reading articles about how certain games make people feel and react.

Certainly beats "top 10 reason why I really want the PS4 to come out right now and for free" or "Top 18 reasons Gabe would beat Hideo in a wrestling match."

You have to think that 1: He's pushing his new service and 2: he probably knows quite a bit more about future consoles than we do. So while I'd say "about five years" might be cutting it close, I can't see the next generation lasting nearly as long as this one and, after that, I can definitely see why consoles as we know them will become somewhat unnecessary.
