Sales aren't everything to Microsoft. They go by the amount of players a game has through both Game Pass and sales.
And yes the Playstation sales difference is huge but part of that is the fact that Xbox users didn't have to buy the game.
Don't get me wrong I hope the Outer Worlds franchise takes off but as far as Fallout goes I hope Bethesda learn from all this and make the next Fallout a single player masterpiece
@cyber_daemonx
Believe it or not developers and publishers benefit from having their game on Game Pass.
Publishers get paid a large amount of money by Microsoft and developers benefit by more people playing their games.
In the case of Obsidian though, they are owned by Microsoft now so having their game do well on Game Pass means Microsoft is more likely to ask them to make a sequel.
There is about as much chance of Outer Worlds 2 being on PS as there is for The Last of Us 2 being on Xbox. Absolute zero
Of course most sales were on PS4. If it wasn't I would be shocked.
A high proportion of Xbox(and PC) users wouldn't have even needed to buy the game because it's on Game Pass.
Microsoft don't care whether you buy the game or subscribe to game pass. They(and Obsidian) get payed either way.
It's on Game Pass. Xbox and PC users didn't have to buy it to support it. They can support it by playing on Game Pass
Just like N4G to jump on anything negative about xbox.
It's on Game Pass.
Sales will be low on all platforms. Why buy it when there is no need?
What the hell are you talking about?
PS Plus has been £10 more expensive the Xbox Live gold for the past 2 years.
This price rise means both services now cost the same
Considering PSN made only $1 billion more when it sold around twice as many consoles you can't say MS are not successful.
They are clearly the most successful of the two when it comes to digital sales per each console sold
Considering there are something like twice as many ps4's sold than xboxes I would have thought there would have been a much bigger revenue gap between the two. Xbox being only $1 billion dollars behind is pretty good going considering
This article is nonsense.
They're not going to use cartridges.
They will still be using blu ray drives and there may even be cheaper discless models but there is no way they will switch to using cartridges. They will be too expensive to manufacture and will increase the price of games.
It was a good game in itself but a major letdown as a hitman game.
A lot of missions were linear where you just get from point A to point B and the disguises were practically useless.
I did like the contracts mode though
@ArchangelMike
UK sales figures are meaningless. They only count physical sales. Year after year less people are buying physical games. I really wish websites would stop using UK sales figures to comment how poorly games are selling because discs are mostly bought by casuals playing games like Fifa.
Oh what a surprise. Another N4G article that thinks Sony can't do no wrong.
FFS N4G is the most pathetic toxic Sony loving fanfest on the internet.
All you pathetic fanboys have ruined what used to be a good gaming site.
Yeah it is depressing for Solo players. I don't just mean Ni No Kuni II but all gaming in general.
Seems all games have to have a multiplayer mode or you get kids whining saying 'Needs multiplayer' I would much prefer developers to not listen to whiners and make the best single player games they can.
The Irony is they add multiplayer to a lot of games to keep people happy but then no one plays them online.
People just go back to playi...
Of course it does. N4G is totally biased in favour of PlayStation and so is Whatculture for that matter.
New Stuff?
Only recently Shadow of the Colossus was remastered for the ps4. If gamers only wanted to play new stuff then there would be no need for remasters.
Being old does not make a game less playable.
Backwards compatibility is a feature that should be on every console.
I
Not the only thing.
The only thing playstation has is more exclusives.
Xbox has gamepass, EA Access, free automatic cloud saves, better mod support, better external hard drive support, Windows 10 apps support etc.
While ps4 does technically have ps2 backwards compatibility it is behind a pay wall where you have to buy the game again even if you already own the disc.
Except xbox isn't dead.
Just look at this weeks UK all formats charts. Three of the top 5 games are xbox exclusives.
PS4s recent exclusive that was well received by the reviewers called Ni No Kuni 2 has sold so poorly it's dropped out of the top 40. Sea of Thieves is still number 3. This isn't bad considering the xbox is supposed to be dead and the game was poorly received. The game is also on Game Pass so would have lost a lot of sales becaus...
@Ristul
Ori isn't a first party exclusive. The developer Moon studios isn't owned by Microsoft.
And Minecraft was already multiplatform before Microsoft bought them.
The only reason The Outer Worlds is on playstation is because it was already in development and Private Division already had the publishing rights before Microsoft bought Obsidian
