The Nintendo wii is not a high definition console and it can't even play DVD's. As it is not even a next generation console in power there is no way the over rated piece of crap can play a blu ray movie.
I own both next gen consoles. I'll be getting GTA4 on xbox 360 just because of the DLC. If the DLC was exclusive to the ps3 then I would have got the ps3 version instead.
I couldn't care less if the xbox is dead in japan or not.
The games that actually matter are made in North America and Europe anyway and at the moment most of them are being released on the 360.
The 360 still sells well in the US and the UK which means that the american and european developers will keep making games for it.
True but if someone lives in a country where it's sensored they could just import the ps3 version which will be region free.
Doesn't bother me. This would only bother me if I lived in an area where the game was censored. If a game is censored or banned then I would want to import it. Like GTA3 was censored in australia. It is possible this game could be censored somewhere as well.
take2 are one of the best publishers. EA are the worst.
Take2 bring out decent games people actually want to play. Games like Grand Theft Auto series and Bioshock.
What have EA ever done?
The same old crap year after year like Fifa and countless Sims expansions. I have a large games collection and only one EA game. That just shows how crap they are.
If EA have taken over Take 2 then it will destroy the games industry because there will no longer be a decent amount ...
With system requirements like these, no wonder PC gaming is dying.
For a lot less money you can buy a 360 or ps3 and know that the game will work straight out of the box without having to download new drivers or buy new upgrades. I used to be a PC gamer myself but got fed up with having to keep the PC up to date just to play the latest games.
I agree it was a big mistake for microsoft to not put HD DVD drive in the 360 as standard. But it is certainly not over for them. In the end it's the games that matter and good games can still fit on a standard DVD.
PS3 will gain ground. mainly because of blu ray but it will not be as big as the ps2 was last generation. There will be no overall winner this time because both Sony and MS will keep bringing out must have exclusives. The only winners will be people who own both games conso...
No it will be blu ray. You want to watch a blu ray movie then you will need a ps3.
GTAIV will be the biggest game this year and that is on both formats. But if you want the full GTA4 experience then you have to get it on 360 for the exclusive episodic content.
@whoelse
Backwards Compatibilty is being dropped. Even if they replace the 80GB model they will not bring back backwards compatibilty. Sony want you to use your ps3 for blu ray movies and ps3 games only. They want you to spend money on a ps2 to play ps2 games that is why they are bringing a new ps2 model out.
Downloads will never replace discs.
Fist of all most ISP's have download limits or fair use policies.
Secondly downloaded movies are compressed more to make file sizes smaller which means poorer quality picture.
Thirdly downloads are ofter quite slow because people rarely get the full download speeds advertised by their ISP's.
There is also the fact that movie download services are basically rental services. If they are not rental services then would would ...
As someone who own boths consoles I can honestly say that ps3 doesn't have the greatest selection of console exclusives.
360 Exclusives
Dead Rising, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Fable 2, Halo 3, Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Crackdown, Condemned 1, plus others I can't think of right now
PS3 exlusives Resistance 1 + 2, Uncharted, MGS4,Unreal Tournament III(only timed exclusive though) and ratchet and Haze.
Oblivion is better on 360. I know because I own bo...
@nickolascage24
There will be no overall winner to the console war this generation.
Xbox360 has sold extremely well and now because of the blu ray victory the ps3 will now as well. The Wii doesn't count because it's is not next gen.
I have had an xbox 360 since launch and bought a ps3 just after christmas when I heard about warners decision.
Just because I bought a ps3 doesn't mean i'll be getting rid of my 360. It means I now have more choice when buying ...
I own both consoles so i'm not a fanboy of either. But I do think they will have to get used to developing for ps3. With the ps3 gaining popularity in europe and overtaking the 360 in some countries they would be mad to ignore it. And now with blu ray victory of hd dvd there will be even more people buying ps3's because that is the best blu ray player.
Downloads will never replace discs. For a start people who collect films want something physical for their collection.
There is also the fact that Downloading is a pain. For a start most ISP's have download limits and fair use policies which will stop people downloading regularly. There is also the fact that not that many people actually get the full 8meg download speeds. I stopped using the xbox movie download service just because I don't want to have to wait a few hours for a film t...
It's actual software sales that will determine the winner of the format war not the amount of stand alone players.
The fact is that Blu Ray sells more movies than HD-DVD because of the ps3.
The ps3 isn't going away and as it becomes more popular so will blu ray movies. It doesn't matter if HD-DVD owners buy more discs than the average ps3 owner the fact is there are far more ps3's out there than HD-DVD players so they will sell more discs.
Shops w...
The last thing we need to do is prolong the format war. It will be better for everyone if HD-DVD and this low tech chinese format were to just die. I want to be able to buy all film on just one format. Not have to have 2(or 3) seperate players for them all.
I have quite a good collection of HD-DVD's but I wont be buying any more. There is no way HD-DVD can survive now they only have 2 studios supporting them. Toshiba are deluding themselves if they think they can survive. Just because they sold more stand-alone players than Blu Ray doesn't mean anything. The fact is there are a lot of PS3's out there. It was the ps2 that helped make DVD's popular and ps3 will do the same for Blu Ray. HD-DVD made a big mistake by not including it as standard with...
As someone who owns both machines I can honestly say the PS3 is not the superconsole you believe it to be. Blurry graphics, low draw distances? WTF you on about. Also I'm quite sure game could fit on 1 DVD if they used compression and in engine cutscenes instead of FMV.
The truth is that both machines aren't that much different from eachother. The 360 is better in some ways and the PS3 is better in others.
Maybe but it wont be a Nintendo WII.
